Living in Michigan with winter right around the corner, we needed a back up generator in the event our power goes out during the cold winter weather. After reviewing many different models we settled on the Honda 3000is. With the Honda offering a super quiet 3000 watt generator it helped make up our mind. Also the generator will run for 20 hours on a tank of gas. That and the super quiet feature sold me on this generator.

Once set up it's easy to use!
I received the new EU3000IS generator on Thursday and decided to set it up today (Saturday). Setup was a bit difficult. I purchased the wheel set and those attached pretty easily, although the generator is quite heavy to move around to attach the wheels. Adding oil to the engine requires a funnel that has a flexible drain tube attached. Pouring directly from the bottle will get more all over the generator and ground than in the case. This has all of the features I need. It is very easy to operate and hook up. My son is an electrician and hooked it to my electric panel so we would have basic hookups during the hurricane.

Making off-grid look luxurious
We power our off grid home using one. Truly a trooper and reliable generator. We hooked It uo to a remote starter inside the house. I hear it 20 paces away but just enough to listen for problems. The cold starts in the morning can take a min only about three cranks to turn over. Playing with the choke is also a convent feature. We leave the choke pulled out a small amount and it helps turn over, i dont think its a best practis but works anyway everytime.

Super Quiet. Electric start required you to hook up the battery before it works.I will be buying another one to augment my 1st one. Always starts on second pull if not on first pull. I added a pigtail to allow external battery charging. Ethanol free fuel is being used as this Generator is for back up power. I do take it out to run it to ensure things are good.

RODENT INFESTATION
Ok, there are 4 holes on the bottom of my 3000is Inv/Gen. This is basically an inviting on-ramp for mice that make their way to my garage. A big design flaw/engineering oversight(IMO). O/W I really like the unit. How do I rectify this problem?

Great product.
This has been a great home backup unit for 12 years. I purchased mine when they first came out, and have never been sorry. After Hurricane Michael, I used it to power 2 refrigerators, a freezer, 17 LED bulbs and 2 fans, and it still ran for about 11 hours without needing fuel, great for a night's sleep. I only wish it came with the new wheel kit and handles. It is a little heavy for me to move by myself, and the wheel kit will be a blessing.

Last a long time
I just purchased another eu3000is only because my old eu3300is ( 18yrs old plus many many hours)finally stopped generating. I'm taking it in to get it fixed to have spare. My son tried to talk me into purchasing a Yamaha but, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I have had such good luck with Honda equipment (outboard motor / car) I don't want to change.

Poor rotor design
Initial quality and use was excellent. Rotor design is unacceptable. The glue holding the magnets in place on the rotor failed, leading to broken and cracked magnets. This ultimately caused the machine to be inoperable.

Great generators and super quiet. Great on gas as well. This is my 4th Honda Generator that I use in my ice cream food truck business. They are the best by far.

We have always had excellent luck with the Honda generators. Not a single failure in 30+ years. This one purchased to power a new 17 foot travel trailer. I like the electric start, but it would be nice if they provided external terminals to make keeping the battery charged during off seasons.

While the EU3000IS has the wattage to handle more than just campground tasks, it is absolutely terrific in a peaceful outdoor setting because of how quiet and unobtrusive it is. wonderful machine
Using this generator to power critical functions in my house like freezer and refrigerator. I does that with ease as well as computer and a few lights and TV. Usability is incredibly easy and fuel consumption used 2 1/2 gallons of gas in 14 hours. Very quiet operation you can stand next to it and have a conversation.
