Easy set up And operation. Read instructions for oil viscosity and temperature.sae30 comes with it.change after 30hrs run time. Capable of Powering Furnace Refrigerator TV and 50% of the lights in a small home for 8 to 10 hours.

runs great. runs quite

we had to purchase this in a hurry. lost power and two days later needed a generator. This was the only one on shelf. I was thinking it was a bit pricey but this proved to be worth the money spent. Runs quite and quite gas efferent.

AWESOME GENERATOR

Great features- well constructed..solid machine...people- just simply read and HEED the manual..don't leave fuel sitting in them for a long period of time, hensce problems with carb and fuel lines/tank etc, as mentioned in a low-baller review.

very well made, very easy to attach wheels and handle, very easy to pull start. easy to manuever from inside to outside. a little less noisy than others in our neighborhood. having including 4 socket cord is nice addition. start, run, stop dial very nice

Good unit at good price

Had no trouble assembling Gen, prepped as per instructions and it started right up. Came with HD 30amp ext cord and worked perfectly.

Rusted gas tank

Unit purchased new and stored according to owner's manual guidance. Gas tank rusted and now has to be replaced along with carburetor.

New But Like So Far

Just recently purchased. So far so good. Easy to assemble. Bought for sump pump back up but can run sump, refrigerator, furnace blower, two rooms and a TV simultaneously with no problem. Can be bit noisy but if you keep it recommended distance from the house you will be fine. Only additional feature I would like to have is electric start but not many generators at this price point and wattage offer them. Good generator

Just get the generator and start it in cold weather (one pull) so I don’t understand others having problem in cold weather but only time will tell , I do like the new dial no more confusion is on or off ,yes I do recommended

Seems like a good generator

I just bought this generator today so I don’t know how this will perform over the long term but for now it seems like a good generator. I like the Rapid Start dial. It’s very easy to start and stop without having to find a bunch of different switches and knobs. It started on the 3rd pull after setting it up for the very first time. Bought this exact model 5 years ago. I looked into generators before parting with a pile of cash. Every where I looked this Generic 5500 was the best rated and also Consumer Reports not only rated #1 over 5 years ago, it also rated it #1 in last months Consumer Reports. Deceptive accessories

The box says that it comes with what looks like a 30 amp cable that hooks up to a house. This picture looks nothing like the extension cord it really comes with that has 4-20 amp 110 connections. Lowes does not sell the 30amp-30amp connector cable either, but they do have the parts to make one that total about $90 depending on the length of cable you get. In cold weather the only way it will start is with a spray of starting fluid into the carburetor..

Only 2 years old 6 hours run time. Will not start in cold weather without starting fluid. With a spray of starting fluid starts on first pull.

Great powerplant but poor fuel cell

I've really enjoyed using this generator when its working. However, rust has developed in the gas tank and it has been nearly impossible to remove. Replacement units are all over $100. Maybe a plastic fuel tank would have been a better solution??

Just what I needed after Irma

Easy to assemble and started on second pull. Voltage was 122 and ran great for the 30 hrs that I needed it .

Impressive 5500 Generac "Rapid Start"

Fully agree with the "Rapid Start" title. Assembled the unit, serviced it as per owners manual, and one pull, it stared right up! AMAZING! Very impressed. This unit replaced a 5,000 watt Generac unit that I purchased in 1999. (The 10 HP Briggs unit "gave it up" even after making sure it was properly serviced every six months.)
