Not Highly Rated because...

I purchased this unit to supply our home solar system power to charge our 20 batteries when in need due to our 15kw ecogen by generac went up in smoke after three years. This little generac is designed to offer 30 amps of power which is a stretch. If you are anywhere close to that amperage, it will send you outside to reset the breaker. GENERAC for Hurricane Power Loss

I purchased my GENERAC RS5500 about four months ago before Hurricane Irma was to come close to my home in Coastal North Carolina, but I did not get to use it much other than initial start up and a few start ups since. We had an unusual snow storm yesterday, and when we lost power, I pulled my fairly new GENERAC RS5500 out of my garage attempted to start it up. STARTED ON FIRST PULL!

Just purchased my RS5500 was easy to read instructions and easer assemble and fired up on first pull!

The Power Dial is awesome feature.

During hurricane Irma we lost power and had this generac RS5500 on standby.It is a good feeling knowing we would have power when the power went out. The generac RS5500 started up on the first pull and powered 2 fridges, lights in the house, ceiling fans, dvd player and also the TV. very easy to operate

My recent purchase of the rs5500 was awesome. The generator is of great quality and craftsmanship. I have used other brands of portable generators and the Generac brand always offers quality and ease of use.

Good generator

Put generator together in about 20 min. Wheels, handle, and uncrating. Put in oil and gas, syarted on second pun in 25 deg. temp. Haven'tn used it for backup power yet but did test on tools. For the price I think electric start would have been nice.

In hard time, it makes life so much easier!

I bought the generator RS5500 from my employer (Amgen) due to the aftermaths of hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. It was easy to set it up, and it starts up without any problems. My family and I are amazed that it can power up the entire home with great fuel consumption. Thank you Generac for making my family's life more easier considering all the bad, inconvinience and hardship we are going through... One thing less to worry about!

Great American made product

Have a friend that has a Generac and raves about it all the time.Did some investigating and found that for the money you can't find a better more reliable unit.Come with its own cart,which is an option with most other units.The dial startup can't be any easier to use,starts with the first pull every time,and I have a very bad back but the unit started so easy I couldn't believe it,wish my push mower started this easy.

Reliable Home backup generator

I purchased the RS5500 generator to have on hand for bad winter storms and power outages. My area has a tendency to be without power for a day or two minimum when it does go out. I haven't had the opportunity to use it during an outage yet, however it was very easy to assemble out of the box and to get running. I bought this generator (RS5500) for my parents as a gift after hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. It was easy to set it up and to get running. Even my mom can start it without any problem. We are amazed that it can power up the entire home with great fuel consumption. Thank you Generac for making my family's life more easier after the event we are going through.

MY FIRST GENERATOR----LOVE IT!!!

Due to the unreliable utility service here in S.E. Idaho (especially during hot summers and cold winters) and as electricity is my only source of heat and A/C I spent quite a bit of time on-line searching for a portable gas generator. Unfortunately due to recent disasters in Florida, Texas and Puerto Rico portable generators were sold out or back-ordered just about everywhere. Bad generator

Bought because mother in-law is on oxygen and to run 10000btu window a.c. ùnit. Four hours after power went out from hurrìcane Irma, it thru a rod with 5.9 hours on it. Took to authorized repair facility as told. It's been 8 weeks and still waiting for Generac to send new engine.

Reliable and Fuel Efficient

We put almost 200 hours on this unit during hurricane Irma. It always started on the first pull, and ran flawless the entire time. The only issue is the noise. I understand there is only so much that can be done in terms of sound, but if there was an accessory for an upgradeable muffler, I would gladly purchase it... or my neighbors might purchase it for me. I ended up parking cars around and in-between neighbors to try and help, but it's loud, no way around it.

This comes recommended by my contractor.

At my age I wanted something easy to setup and be ready for use.

Nice generator

Bought it for Hurricane Irma. Ran, big fridge, freeze chest, tv, wifi, some lights and fans. 5-6 gallons lasted about 10 hours. States in manual you have to adjust valve clearance after 50 hours, added cost if you are not a diy. Comes with a 30 ft cable with 4 outlets on it, plus additional outlets on unit. Overall, nice unit. Has wheels with handle to move it.
