Would RecommendThis product got my family through a very tuff time with hurricane Irma. I ran the generator almost 40 straight hours with no issues. Very dependable product, my family thank generac very much!!! We had lights, was able to keep all of our good in two fridges and stayed cool with fans in every room. Now I gotta change the oil! Thanks again for a awesome piece of equipment!!!

Great Generator
Would RecommendBought this for Hurricane IRMA. I lost power and this generator ran the Refrigerator and Freezer, Satellite TV, TV, 6 floor fans, and 7 lights, microwave, toaster over, toaster and COFFEE pot. It still had plenty of power to give as I used only about half the 5500 watts, and it ran 12 hours on a tank of gas and it took less than 5 gallons to fill it full each time. I ran this for 118 hours before getting our power back and it never let me down. This is a great product.

Hurricane Irma relief
Would RecommendWe had been without power for 3 days when we borrowed a generator from a friend and on day 4 it went out. We were just at the store looking for something to fix it, when e saw the display for the General RS5500. This is an outstanding product that looks great, has a get price and came in clutch during a time of need. My family and I truly appreciate the value and performance of this product.

Irma Surviver - Excellent Results
Would RecommendWhen I found out Lowe's had a large shipment it took me about 2 seconds to decide to get one. Minimal assembly and it started with one pull of the cord and ran great -- 2 refrigerators, some lights, multiple fans. The only suggestion I have is to the owner's manual writers. They say to change oil with every gas fill - unrealistic. They say do not shut off the unit. So if you take the dipstick out while it's running you get a face full of oil. Bad instructions.

Hurricane Irma misery saver
Would RecommendPower went out at midnight sunday during the storm, first thing monday morning I fired up the generator and had 2 window unit AC's, refrigerator, freezer and satelite TV running for 3 days straight. A true misery saver. We would shut it off when gone for any length of time, showed my wife how to operate it in 2 minutes and she had no problems starting and operating. Highly recommended.

This product worked perfect.
Would RecommendI bought the RS-5500 to get us through hurricane Harvey in Rockport TX. We were without city power for 13 days. This unit worked perfectly and was very fuel efficient. I changed the oil at the 30 hour mark. Then again at the 130 hour mark. The unit had over 150 hours on it when I shut it down when city power came back on. We have frequent power outages so I'm confident my family and I will get a lot of use out of this unit.

great product! Highly recommend!
Would RecommendBoarded up house, assembled generator, showed wife how to work it. Went to work for 96 hours (firefighter). Hurricane Irma hit and power was lost the night of the storm. My wife cranked it up and ran it until I got home and followed all recommendations as far as oil change etc.. My tiny wife started this thing first pull after every refuel. This generator powered 2 refrigerators and a portable air conditioner, a fan and battery charger for 4 days and never missed a beat. I will be purchasing a l...

Flawless - 2 major hurricanes and many field trips later
Would RecommendFlorida is notorious for storm outages. I used this RS5500 for Hurricane Matthew, then again this weekend for Irma. When I get my power back, it gets lent to others in need. This unit has over 80 hours on it and runs flawless! Though the power dial already has a gas shutoff, I still installed my own so I can run the carb dry before storage. I have also taken this out in the field camping, used it to power a welder where there was no power, run my compressor and other tools at a job site, yo...

Comfortable during Irma outtage.
Would RecommendI got lucky and purchased my RS5500 when the store I visited was almost out of stock. Trying to prepare for Hurricane Irma a few days prior to the storm hitting, generators were in very short supply. I was very excited to see the units available at the store were Generac! I got the unit home and with minimal time and effort, got the wheels and handle installed. I poured in the included oil, fueled up, and gave her a test run while using some power tools as I was trying to finish boarding up my h...

Feel very prepared!
Would RecommendPurchased this unit after searching for over a week in preparation for Hurricane Irma. This generator is well put together and sturdy. Got lucky in line at Lowes and saw the generators they had in stock were Generac, a solid name in the power buisiness. Got the unit home and with minimal time, got it put together, fueled, and ready to fire up. Started with the first pull! Ran the unit for about 30 mins to make sure it would be ready to go when and if we loose power. Ran all my power tools that I...

Resilient. Easy. Reliable.
Would RecommendI bough the RS5500 about this time last year, the day before Matthew came to Charleston. I bought it strictly as an insurance policy expecting to return it in a few days; we had no power for five days. I filled it with oil and gas and it started on the first pull. I will only ever buy Generac equipment from now on.

GP5500 not a good product for me
Would Not RecommendI purchased this unit several years ago and used it 2 times when encountered a power loss. I went to start it up recently and motor shaft would not spin full revolution. Took it to a Service place and was informed motor is bad and unit out of warranty and not worth repairing even though it had under 25 hours of total run time,
Great Choice
Would RecommendBought this in preparation for Irma after 7 days without power with Hurricane Matthew last year.Filled with Oil and Gas and cranked on first pull and had full power. These are super hard to find right now and I pray we do not have to use it, but I feel well prepared with this unit. Also got it on sale this week for $599! Great Buy.

Poor Quality Before It Even Makes It Out The Box
Would Not RecommendI bought this generator today in preparation for "IRMA". Got it home and began to un-box it and immediately noticed a fuel line hanging. It had broken off from the area directly behind the Power Dial. This is the line leaving the Power Dial and going to the carburetor. Contacted Lowes, where I purchased it and was told they had already sold out, along with every other Lowes in a 50 mile radius. Was asked what else could be done and they transferred me to the appropriate department where I was pl...

Life Saver
Would RecommendAfter hurricane Harvey hit us we had no power. My daughter bought this generator for me before heading back to the house. The generator worked like a champ. It powered my neighbors refrigerator and freezer along with mine. We were even able to add several fans and lights. The generator ran for six days non stop till power was restored without any issues. Very happy with this product.

Would Recommendeasy assembly. easy start. it will come in very handy
Excellent for me
Would RecommendOur old propane generator overheated when we checked out our new cooler, thank goodness before we left on vacation. We selected this Generac and it worked wonderfully for us. We only used it for the AC but with temps near 100 there was no problem cooling down.
