I bought this for hunting and it’s a great little addition to my gear, tucks away in my bino harness and works great.

Wonderful safety and communication
I purchased this before a 5-day sailing cruise to Apostle Islands. The live track and messaging worked flawless and kept family and friends informed. I should have done this sooner.

We used this when my husband was in the boundary waters. I was able to stay connected with him via an app on my phone. There was a delay in sending/receiving messages but it was better piece of mind to know that we could still keep connected in case something happened. He also used it to call emergency services when his group ran into an issue, they were very responsive. Ideally, it would have its own message screen but this works.

Connection with family
I bought this to satisfy my family when my son and I would be without signal for a week on the Appalachian Trail. Calmed their nerves and mine!!!! Features worked great and looking forward to our next hike:)

Unbelievable peace of mind
I have absolutely no regrets about dropping the money to buy this, or for paying for the subscriptions. I use the navigation features pretty often and they work great, but my main comfort is knowing that I can keep in touch with family and summon emergency rescue god forbid something happened. I can check in with them. They can check in with me. They can see where I'm at. And if something were to ever happen and my tracker didn't move for an extended period of time and they didn't hear b...

Nice to have but pricey service
I liked the peace of mind I got from carrying the InReach with me, but the live tracking service is way too expensive to use when front country hiking. Which is a shame because I often hike and trail run alone.

Easy to use
Setting up the Garmin and selecting a plan was easy and quick. Took less than 10 minutes to set up and learn how to use it. Connection to your phone was easy and quick. Battery life was excellent. Was a little surprised at how long it lasted in temps under freezing. A

Excellent Accessory
Purchased for Hunting way back in no man’s land. It’s done everything I’ve expected of it. Keep my family updated & give me peace of mind out there alone.

Disappointed
I bought this a few weeks ago for a northern Maine moose hunt. Along with convincing my good friend to but one as well. The communication between inreachs are so inconsistent. A message may go through in 1min or 1hr. Not at all what I wanted. It will get you home and that's about it. My wife's iPhone 16 has better satellite communication.

We appreciate your message! Under ideal conditions, an inReach message can go through within 30 seconds, but it may take longer depending on your envi...
Works like a charm
Bought this for a trip to Appalachia and I’m glad I did. Had ZERO cell coverage but I was able to communicate with home with my InReach mini. The preloaded texts are great. Customized texts are a little cumbersome, but not impossible, even for a Gen Xer. I secured it to my backpack with a D-ring and it was completely out of the way. It definitely adds a little peace of mind.

Connect
Planned a trip to Alaska in Yukon hunting moose. This was a remote area & I knew no phone service existed. I used in reach to stay in touch with my friends & outfitter.

Excellent and love the USB-C
At this point, I am only buying things that charge on a USB-C, which I'm really glad the Mini 2 has. Other than that, I don't think there's much difference between the original Mini and the Mini 2. I personally prefer having buttons (vs the inReach thing that you can only operate from your phone), because I do sometimes adventure without the phone (shocking!) and also my phone often dies on longer trips (no surprise), and I'd rather not charge two things

Horrible.
Takes forever to send messages. Up to 4 hours. Can’t trust it

Messaging had issues
I was camped in a location with no signal, so relied on the garmin to check in. I was able to send messages (with some significant lag times), but consistently did not receive replies until the next day when I left the campground. I did have view of the sky, so not sure if this was a location-specific issue. I will keep testing it’s ability as I use it more.

Always reliable
Lost my last inReach while backcountry skiing and immediately had to purchase a new one. Used this for a week while hiking the Wonderland Trail and it was great for keeping in touch with my family and sending them updates. Synced seamlessly with my phone and was very quick on sending messages out. An inReach will always be part of my backcountry kit.

Perfect satellite device for remote activities
I hike, snowmobile, dirt bike, and paddle in a lot of remote places with no phone coverage. Its always a concern to be able to contact someone for help if I have an issue. This device is small, light and easy to use. Long battery life and great features. Just used on a 4 day hiking trip and had battery left to spare.
