I bought this for a camping trip where the cell service is spotty and it exceeded my expectations. I thought the price was a bit high, with the activation fee and various plans. It’s absolutely worth, get this if you are an avid hiker, camper, etc.

I purchased this for trips where I know no cell coverage will be available. My cell phone does have some satellite capability, but I was in the area last year and we didn’t have any coverage ( northern Canada). I would love if Garmin would have a “master class” like OnX does for their subscribers… just seems like you are on your own unless you can find an appropriate YouTube video.

Poor coverage
Took it to Belize for safety during time at Turneffe Atoll. Did not work - no satellite reception despite hand-held Garmin GPS units working just fine there.

I bought this gps for tracking distance x- county skiing and mountain biking. The unit is very inaccurate tracking distance. I compared readings to the car and a strava app and the mini is way off. Total disappointment..

Must have for off grid adventures
Took my two boys on an off grid boondocking adventure way out of cellphone range. The ability to message my wife to check in periodically is invaluable. The In Reach is essential hardware for anyone adventuring in remote areas.. highly recommend this product.

Great safety tool
Just easy to use and plenty of extra mapping features come with the device. Keeps me feeling safe and my family comfortable when I’m out in the backcountry.

Works as advertised
My wife bought this for Christmas 2025. Have just used it on the trail this weekend. It will send texts to those you need. Just be aware sometimes it takes few it take s few mins for travel back and forth depending on where satellites are and yes you definitely need to make sure to have clear view of sky

Peace of mind
I disperse camp and hike a lot. Having this clipped to my hip when I’m out of cell service gives both me and my family greater peace of mind knowing where I am and that I’m reachable.

Great functionality, Garmin app ecosystem is all over the place
I like the compact size and rugged construction. I've used it for check-ins and tracking a couple of times, and it does a great job. Battery life has been good, lasting several days of intermittent use before I even thought of charging it. There are a number of different subscription plans that cover whatever your needs may be. My biggest complaint, as it has been with Garmin products, is the number of apps you need to get full functionality. I have watches, GPS units, and two of the inReach...

Never Leave Home Without It
I have taken my InReach backpacking in Alaska, Utah, and Maine. This has provided relief to myself and my family, being able to let them know I'm okay regardless of where my adventures take me is worth it's weight in gold.

Packs necessary punch in small package
I travel out of cell range alone — sometimes for days. My friends decided I needed to check in so ‘someone knew where I was’ and have SOS capability. I purchased this ~9 months ago and only just took it out of the package to use on an international solo jaunt. While at first the instructions seemed overly simplified to the point of confusion, the YouTube videos and Google searches helped tremendously. Yes, the two necessary apps seem overly complex—they truly make the process of using the th...

Peace of Mind is Priceless!
This is actually the second one I've bought. I wear one while diving, and I bought the second one for my adult daughter who also dives. We've been in some crazy current and storm situations before and I can tell you, you feel very small floating out there hoping the boat can see you and your SMB. I keep a whistle and mirror in my pocket too, but worst case scenario, we always have the Garmin for backup! Also use it hiking and when paired with my Garmin Mk3i, the tools are incredible!
