Bought this a month ago for a planned remote hunting trip where I knew there was going to be little service, if at all. Came in handy to let my wife know I was ok.

The standard backcountry communication device!
I love this little unit to keep in touch with family while in remote areas. I’ve never had to use the SOS feature but it’s nice to know it’s there. It’s a must for adventures. The size is great. The battery lasts about a week. The small size is convenient but it makes communicating a little challenging unless you pair it your phone which adds to the complexity and shortens battery life of devices. Overall I would recommend this to adventurers!

Great upgrades.
This is my 5th inreach over the years we still have 3 of the other 4. This one replaced a gen 1 explorer+. It is smaller and faster than all the others, works great! I have maps on my Fenex 7pro so down sizing the inReach was a good call and I’m glad I did.

Wouldn't Hike Without It!e highways, also.
We travel to the National Parks and enjoy hiking. Some of the trails are remote, less busy, or overgrown. We just finished a trip to Alaska. It was very comforting to know that help was available should something happen. We send a message to our contacts when we start the trail and then again when we're off. Glad we had it on remote roads, too.

All the important stuff works
I bought the inReach Mini 2 to use for hiking and backpacking. On the plus side: I found it tracked my multi-day trip through Goat Rocks very well. I did not need to recharge it during the 3 days in the back country. I sent messages back to my wife from the trail and even got a message back from her. We used it exclusively for navigation during the trip and coupled with my iPhone, the whole experience was very intuitive and easy to use. On the minus side: The carabiner that came with the inRea...

Almost perfect
My only real complaint is the whomever I want to text needs to have the Garmin Messanger App. in order to pair and send texts with my my phone. I had to use the device to text and it was tedious. Other than that, great device!

Fantastic service!
The mini is amazing and adapts to my phone perfectly. It gives me the ability to communicate for fun or emergency needs when I am out in the wilds of Alaska where there is no cell service. The battery lasts a long time as well!

It has worked well for me to date for remote camping and travel. I've been easily able to pick a cheap monthly subscription or cancel, temporarily, if not using for several months.

Best Sat Comm out there
The inReach Mini 2 is super easy to use and is great for backcountry communications. I love how you can "text" people in the backcountry to facilitate meet ups!

Hard to use. No instructions. Useless
Bought it for an AT hike and could never get it to work with service. Paid for service but never sent messages. No instructions. It can tell time. Only holds a charge for 36 hours. Stopped recording in middle of hike so you lose your hiking record. Unsatisfied

Always in my pack!
I carry this on hikes, climbs, and backpacking trips to send check-ins and use the live track feature so others can follow my climbs. Battery life is great and it’s small enough to clip to my pack and forget about. I usually send messages through the phone app since typing on the device is slow, but overall it’s easy to use and dependable.

Back country
Hunting in remote area. No cell service. Was able to text my wife and stay in communication with her. A litte slow but not bad considering where I was . Would recommend this to anyone needing to have contact with the real world.

User friendly, and USB-C
I was excited to buy the inreach version 2.0 because of USB-C charging. This device has been reliable for me on many adventures. I particularly like being able to receive updated weather reports.

A travel must have
Amazing battery life on this unit, works flawlessly. Really happy with the responsiveness and accuracy and convenience when I am out traveling. I travel in a lot of areas with no cell coverage and to know that I can get a message out as critical for family and business communication.

Peace of mind
I reside in an area with minimal cell coverage outside of towns and highways. The family's peace of mind while I'm out is worth every penny. Love it

rugged device
the messenger app worked well and I added my family during our 5 days in Wyoming’s Bighorn mountains. The explorer app was inconsistent and my Alltrails with my phone’s GPS worked better . It was my first use of the device and I am sure I have lots to learn but my two savy adult children on the trip could not solve the problem
