Bought this for my husband's fishing trips to Canada but used it for the first time hiking. Signal worked like a charm. No cell service, but the Mini2 sent the signal out where we were starting from on our hike to let others know. Text went out in a deep canyon perfectly.

Small and useful, peace of mind
A great piece of kit, small enough to not add and real weight or bulk to your load out but still perform well and provide critical service in an emergency.

Great Features, Slow Response Time
Finally got to use this on a hunting trip. Loved the features it had with weather check, but I noticed it was very slow to update and check for new messages.

Works Great!
I have only tested it on walks, but the tracking and messaging are great! May use it when I ski this winter in Colorado.

Reliable Safety Device
I bought the inReach Mini 2 a week before finding out that my hunting zone (D8 in California) had minimal to no reception. The ease of use to set up was pretty easy without having to use the instructions. However, I should have read them because I didn't realize I had to add a contact after the recipient had downloaded the app in order to receive messages. I assumed it was automatic. Nevertheless, I felt confident I could ask for help if need be and I was checking in constantly with family and f...

Love it
I bought this as I do a bit of solo camping, and it makes both my family and myself more comfortable. It is lightweight and does exactly what it needs to do.

First time buyer and user of the inreach mini 2
I choose the unreachable mini 2 because of all the satellite connections and possible additions of adding star link. It was easy to pair my device to my phone and the plans are affordable and I can suspend the service when I am not using it which is great. I bought to be safe while out overlanding and hunting. So it has been great. Charge last for awhile but I only power it on when outside so it is not searching for signal all the time indoors.

Extremely handy and user friendly!
I bought this unit to communicate with my wife while on a hunting trip to Idaho back country. I had zero issues with the unit, sends messages easily and holds a great battery charge.

A very lightweight option for backcountry hunting.
This does exactly what I needed it to do with minimal weight. Provides a peace of mind while solo backcountry hunting in Wyoming. It's great to throw in the truck for road trips with gaps in cell coverage.

Lightweight, easy to use and multiple options for subscriptions.

Confidence
Purchased for a trip that included areas with zero cell service. Unit is compact, lightweight, and rugged. As an aging hiker, camper, and four-wheeler, it's great to have a measure of confidence that if help is needed, I'm not solely reliant on cellular connectivity.

This product is great for getting in touch with family while hunting the back country with no service. Been a huge benefit to have this in my pack.

Easy to use and essential
I used my in reach for 2 days while in the Sierra. Great product and a must have.

Amazing tech in a palm-sized package.
I like to hike alone so I need a robust risk management plan. The InReach Mini 2 two-way capability is one giant step up from my old, one-way PLB and is the perfect addition to my solo essentials. I feel better out there knowing that help is as close at hand as the In Reach SOS button should I find myself in dire circumstances. And, it's the complete package with its tracking, messaging and navigation capabilities.

Great tool
Went out alone in the remote wilderness for several days and was still able to communicate with my loved ones. Big stress reliever for me and my family

Great size and weight
I upgraded from the larger and heavier explorer version about a year or so ago. I love the size and weight of this product. I also like that Garmin seems to have acknowledged most people will use the phone interface rather than the unit itself for messaging and mapping. My biggest complaint would be reliability surrounding sending and receiving messages. If there are southern facing cliff bands, which there frequently are in the backcountry, then the utility of this device is relegated to just e...

Weather and tracking not good
Bought this for an elk hunt in Colorado. Got the top plan with high hopes. Communication with families back home was solid which i liked. Come to find out that the weather forecast it provided was just plain wrong and inaccurate. Got my group caught out in a pretty bad storm with thunder and lightning which had we known was in the forecast we would not have hooked out on the first place. The weather was not just off by a little it had clear skies and wildly different temps than we were actively ...

Garmin inReach Mini 2 Disappointment
I bought the Garmin inReach Mini 2 in October 2025 to augment a personal locator beacon that I have owned for years. The appeal of the Mini 2 was its interactive nature and especially because of its route Tracking feature. The Mini 2 failed to meet my expectations. The first negative was an extended and complicated setup procedure. I spent more than 2 hours to setup and personalize the device. Given that there are many third party tutorials on YouTube about Mini 2 setup and subsequent ope...
