Garmin S42 Range Finder

I bought the Garmin (wrist watch style) S42 range finder at Golf Galaxy several weeks ago. I am starting slowly with it - not scoring or attaching phone / text (which I don't want / need on the course!) - but only using the distance / hazard features. It is working very well. I very much appreciate the convenience of a quick glance at my wrist to know the three distances to the green - even when the flag is over a rise and not yet visible. Very pleased!

watch that answers all your needs

S42 is a great watch and I am very satisfied with my purchase. Allows me to do everything and record important stats while I golf. Recommend it to everyone.

Slighty Disappointed

I definitely have mixed feeling about my new Garmin Approach S24 golf range finder watch. First off it is a great range finder on the golf course and can provider a golfer with plenty of info. The bad part though is it does need to be paired with you cell phone. I own a Motorola DROID Max. As such if you leave your cell in your cart a walked around 30' away the watch loses its connection and stops working, often resulting in the watch get lost!. My second refurbished watch

This is my second refurbished watch. The first malfunctioned after about 2 months. My current refurbished watch malfunctioned after a number of months-a corrupt file. I was able to restore functionality from reset and reloading and fixing the file. Beware of refurbished watches. Otherwise I never golf without it.

Excellent GPS and shot tracking.

I primarily use the S42 for golfing, and the GPS beats most golf distance tracking apps that use GPS. An additional feature I'd like to see is a way to track feet of putts made per hole. For example, after submitting your score on your watch, there are other stats to track like fairway, # of putts and # of penalties. Easy to use and comes with sleep and step tracking

The garmin works very well on the golf course, is very easy to use, easily determines the course you are playing, and tracks your sleep and steps (I found this to be nice bonus:). Highly recommend

Easy Peasy

I love that it stores your favorite course so you bypass satellite search. Easy to read. The band was short for me but replaced that. So far, love it. More expensive than say LX2 but worth it.

Makes Distance Control Much Easier

I have a laser range finder and was very happy with that, until I started using my S42. This is so much easier to use and can't leave it lying around after the shot.

Great first impressions

My friend I play golf with had an older version and had talked it up for quite a while so I finally pulled the trigger on the S42 and after a couple of rounds I have not been disappointed. Great data to look through and the off-course watch options are great as well.

Attractive and Easy to Use

U have this in the Rose Gold and it is beautiful! User friendly as well - both on the course and pairing with your smart phone and PC - just wish it had distance to the exact pin but i knew that it did not going in. Also be sure to wait til you get to the golf course first hole to fire up the GPS.

Great Fatures

I also have the Ct10 sensors on my clubs. Keeps track of my game.

Returned

Took long time to find satellite. Asked what tees and used colors mine are numbered. Scoring page turned into another page with numbers. Just too confusing . It felt great on wrist and looked nice but too many steps for me.

Too technical

I’m sorry but an age 85 the gps watch is too technical and too small for me to use. It was a gift and is being returned.
