Love my Garmin Approach® S42. Use it every time Igogolfing,which is abut once week! I'm a hacker. so don't need to know the exact distance to the green. To know where Ther front and back of the green are the most help. It also great to be able to move the pin on the green. The messaging is useless. It would be great to know the temperature. Love the shot distance measurement!

Struggle to connect to satellites
I have reset this watch, downloaded every update and have not been able to get it to work this year. I have it for two years but I have expectations that it can perform for more than a year. It works fine when it works but getting it to work has been a challenge.

Fun to use
My wife has one and my old golf watch quit working. I liked hers so I got one too, There are a few wrinkles I still have to learn but overall it’s a nice help. I back distances up with a rangefinder and the slight differences in readings can’t be discerned on course by a golfer of my ability. Have together tuned in on some of the features but I am enjoying it,

An excellent watch - very accurate.
I purchased this watch as a replacement for an earlier model. It makes club selection much easier especially on holes where the green is totally or partially obscured. I checked against the course marker at 100 metres - the watch showed 99 metres. All you have to do then is to hit the perfect shot……….!

GPS STOPPED WORKIND
This is my second watch. I’m very disappointed in this watch. The GPS has stopped working at it for three years. I have an older version in the GPS works fine.

2nd Failure
Had an S40 that failed. Paid for an S42 to replace it. It failed. Got a replacement S42 for it and it failed. Both replacement S42 were refurbished. Now getting a replacement S44. We will see how this holds up

Doesn’t work!
You are sending me my third 42. They don’t work. I get to the course snd it says “course not found” I’ve spent hours in the phone with your tech guys. I’ve had GARMIN watches for many years but the 42 isn’t working for me. After I receive my next one, which should be this week, if it doesn’t work then I’m going to try something else besides GARMIN.

Doesn't last for the entire warranty
I am dissapointed with this watch as my warranty ends 4/16/25 and my watch started acting up in December 2024. I received a refurbished watch and it's not working well. For the money I think I should have received a new watch. I'm not sure I'll buy another Garmin watch.

Easy to Read and Accurate
I've used this for the past month and actually it is better than I thought it would be. Readings are close to my Bushnell laser and easy to read. I feared it would be hard to read but it is not, even in bright sunlight. Best GPS golf item I've used. I don't even know it on my wrist. I haven't used its other smart wtch items yet.
