Short lifespan!

Broken after 3.5 years! I'll just quote a previous review since I have had the same experience: The washing machine was working great and then after 3.5 years it started making a very loud noise when spinning. Come to find out the spider arm is broken. It would cost more money to fix it then buy a new washer. A washing machine should last more than 3.5 years.

Horrible washer

Truly horrible washer, I've never had as many issues with any other washing machine. I am forced to completely replace it after 6 years because the rear bearing is gone. It has had several unbalance issues during this time, issue is with the drum, tub and bearings, and despite the numerous repairs (thankfully we had purchased a multiple year warranty) it still failed. Such a failure and a huge waste of money.

Broken after 3.5 years

Washer was working fine for about 3 years then started making an awful clanking sound and leaked into my downstairs neighbor's apartment. Apparently the spider arm is broken. So now I'm stuck with replacing the washer and paying for my neighbor's repairs.

we bough a house in June 2019, the previous owner changed the washer and dryer 1 year prior the sales and almost never used it. We are just 2 adults at home with no kid, we can't say that we abuse the washer. Big noise during the spinning and boum after a quick diagnostic the spider arm is broke with a grinding noise from the bearing. Broken after 4 years

After 2.5 years, the lock mechanism broke on this wash machine, but my husband fixed it. Now, after 4 years, we'll hit START to do a load and it will count the minute timer down backwards in seconds until it says END without actually doing anything. From our research, it looks like it will cost more than to just replace the thing. We are so disappointed and advise others DO NOT BUY this.

Drum detached after 3.5 years

Hello, I purchased this 3.5 years ago and now the drum has detached and needs to be replaced. The cost to do so is more expensive than just replacing it. However I have it stacked with dryer DCVH480EKWW. Is there a comparable washer that stacks with this dryer so I don't have to replace that too?

The lock mechanism constantly breaks on this new appliance (2 years old) rendering it useless. DO NOT BUY

2 Years old - Spider Arm Broken

For consistency, I have been buying GE appliances for many years for myself and my tenants. Not anymore! They suffer from the same, dreaded "Spider Arm failures" See the picture of my own front load spider arm. Why do they manufacturer them with materials that corrode so badly? Avoid.

Spider arm cracked

We bought this washer new 3 and a half years ago. The spider arm cracked yesterday during a spin cycle causing the drum to wear a deep grove into the tub. Even if I could replace the spider arm (I hear it's discontinued) I would no longer trust the tub as it seems just a matter of time before that groove becomes a leak.

Shaft broke after 3 years

Machine was 3 years old and shaft broke and part is very expensive and 6 week delivery. Wouldn’t recommend.

We've had this washer (and matching dryer) for 5+years and it just works. I've not read any other reviews but can say this is a good machine.

cracked spider support after 4 years

Worked really well except the drain was always clogging up. And then the spider support cracked... and apparently GE does not make this part anymore... so I now have to buy a whole new washer.

Door seal broke after three years

How did this break so easily? The condo has been occupied for maybe a total of 9 or 10 months in the time I have had this washer. I cannot even find the part. I have a service scheduled for Dec 30/21 but it'd be nice to know they will be able to replace the boot right then since I see the model has been discontinued. wcvh4800k2ww

2nd washer broke after 2 years

This is our second GE washer of the same model. The first we had for 5 years and the entire tub failed during spin cycle. We bought another and after 2 years the exact same thing happened. Very sad. No support. This thing needs a 10-ten warranty, not a 1 year warranty. We kinda feel likes GE owes us.

Unreliable- barrel drum breaks easily

I've owned 2 of these units now as they are a good fit in my city apartment. The second one was a replacement when the first one broke due to a defecting barrel drum, and I wanted to keep the matching W/D set. Unfortunately the second unit met the exact same fate a few years later so I must leave a bad review. The unit starts shaking loudly and then the barrel stops spinning. We have checked repair costs and it is more expensive to fix than just buy a new unit. I would not recommend small GE ...

This is my first washer that I have owned so...

...I don't know how long they are supposed to last. Also I am a guy so probably not as picky in regards to cleaning quality as some of the ladies lol. I am single so I figured I could at least get 10 years lol. Made it to 9 so I guess I am lucky. It does this thing where it gets to 54 minutes and then beeps and unlocks. I did the hold "shut off the mains and then turn back on then spin the dial" trick which worked for a bit but now it's back to not finishing a wash. Is calling repair even worth ...

Still going strong!

After five years of daily use, it continues to run well. It does a great job of washing clothes, as compact euro-style washers run at significantly higher speeds and temperatures for towels (but I would not advise the sanitize mode for much beyond sheets or towels). Cleaning is equal if not better than parent’s [competing washer/dryer in segment], which is no small feat. Unlike them, I have never needed a service call or repairs.
