Two Washers have now failed with drum detaching

We have this washer and now this is the second time the drum detached and went out.

Poor construction

Gasket failed on stacking set of washing machine and dryer after 4 years of very light use at a vacation home. Leaking of water on floors. Replacement cost is nearly as much as a new washing washer.

Had mold, but lasted for 9 years

Even though the front was constantly moldy, the washer worked well while we had it. The drum is now making a loud noise on the spin cycle and it seems that the spider arm has broken. We were advised that it would be cheaper to buy a new washer. The dryer still works well. GE - do you make a washer that is comparable with the original dryer? I have seen some reviews saying no, which is extremely disappointing, especially from a sustainability perspective.

Only lasted 5 years

I'd like to reinforce a couple other reviews---I've had this just over 5 years and the bearing is broken. After sending a video to a tech, he told me it was not worth the cost to repair so thankfully I didn't have to pay for him to come out and tell me that but now I am in the market for a new washer that fits my space and can be stacked with the compatable dryer that works fine. WHY DOESNT GE SELL THE SPIN BASKET REPLACEMENT SHA

As with all the other complaints, the shaft on the Washer Spin Basket, #WH4510090, has snapped and I cannot get a replacement. Four years old and in a one person home. WHY DOESNT GE OFFER THIS PART?

Unreliable and hard to get parts

Unreliable. Debris can easily get into the drain pump and cause damage to the drain pump. There’s design flaws including the spider arm which will eventually break. Worst thing about it is GE does not sell parts or make them available. If you only need to replace the spider arm which holds the basket, you will have to order the whole drum assembly from the factory which is time consuming and not cost effective. I ended up just buying it from someone from facebook marketplace.

Not built to last

Poor durability/longevity. As others have said, don’t expect 5 years out of it. Very disappointing given the hard earned money spent.

Great while it was working but horrible longevity. Didn’t last more than 5 years.

Zero longevity. Broken before hitting the 5-year mark.

Works great and better when repaired

This model is one of the few under counter washers at a reasonable price. Due to a smaller capacity, more loads run. Parts do wear out but not prematurely. It’s easy to maintain. We replaced switches, pump and a hose. The hub driving the drum broke from exposure to the salt in the detergent. We replaced the drum at a great price and upgraded the bearings. It’s more energy efficient and quieter than before. The motor is great. We have it 12-years and will keep it as long as parts are available!

Wouldn't do it again

We liked this machine overall, but after about 3-4 years it died. The drum broke and would no longer spin. We did have the repair person from the company come, but the repair was more than the machine was worth.

Becomes very Moldy. Avoid!

The washing machine is full of mold. I have tried everything to clean the rubber part but it is stained. Impossible to remove the mold unless we replace the unit.

main part is not stanless still

we had this since moved this aprtment 5 years ago recentely stop working and the repair service told us it does not worth to repair as an expensive main part was broken which was roasted and was not stanless still., it is better to buy a new one.

Piece of crap

This washer is a bucket of mold! My clothes smell regardless of how many times I clean it and use tide front load washer packets on basket clean!! Sometimes I run a re-rinse with softener to help with the odor! You name it and I tried it with this piece of crap!

GE: Never Again!

Washer is dead after only 4 years of use. Matching dryer stopped heating a few months before washer died. Looking at Samsung for better performance and longevity.

Didn't last long - bad bearings

Only 3 years of use and we starting hearing a loud roar during the spin cycle. The tech said the bearings are bad and the whole washer will need to be replaced. Not only that, he said the mount for the dryer that actually works won't be compatible with a new washer so we would. need to replace both! GE forces you to buy both appliances when one goes bad. Will be looking for a different manufacturer.

Poor quality

After 9 years of normal use the unit began making an ungodly noise during the spin cycle. It seems the spider arm is broken and, no, you can't just buy the part and replace it. You have to buy the whole basket unit and it costs a thousand dollars. Will never buy GE again. When I was a kid we had one washing machine last until I left for university. Why is it so hard to make simple products last?

Not built well

Machine was great but like most other reviews of this washer the spider arm broke after only 2.5 years. Cost to repair is not worth it. Disappointed because it was stacked in a small closet. Now I have to try and find a replacement that I can stack the dryer on, or buy a new stackable set.

Spider arm broken

Spider arm in the back of the drum broken in 2 places. Thought that running a drum clean cycle once a month would prevent this, but clearly not. Great little machine while it lasted, just wish it lasted a few more years.

Broke after 3 years

Spider Arm broke within 3 years of minimal use. The repair cost more to fix then a new washer! Don’t buy this washer.
