Would Not RecommendWe are currently waiting for repair on our brand new trash compactor. It will start it won’t stop. It starts vibrating like crazy until I kick it open.

Nice clean look
Would RecommendIt's a little early to review my new trash compactor however, it is a direct replacement for my old GE Compactor. If no compromises were made during the construction of this new unit and it lasts near the 26 years my old unit did than I'll be completely satisfied.

Would RecommendWe love the new GE compactor. The solid silver front looks cool and lifting the kick plate with my shoe to turn it on is easy. It blends right into the cabinets.

Sleek and modern
Would RecommendMy first and only trash compactor was a Kenmore, which lasted over 31 years. And probably could have lasted longer if I had of replaced the motor. The GE has a clean modern look to it. It's a solid and easy operation to it. Wether it'll last as long as my Kenmore remains to be seen. Otherwise I'm fairly pleased with its operation.

Nice to have
This compactor replaced our 26 year old GE compactor that still worked but wasn’t as energy efficient as this one. It’s is much easier to use, especially if your hands are full. This can be bought with a paneled door. We went with the stainless steel for a clean look. It fit in the space perfectly and easy to install, since it has wheels on the backside, and four leveling legs. Very good value.

Would Not RecommendHarder to close than previous compactor. Does not have a stay down option.
Thanks for reaching out. You can lock the compactor when it is not in use, by removing the knob. This will keep children from operating the compactor...
