Chip in base plate

Trash

First model lacked 1/4”of fitting under counter. Second model recommended by the installer was not usable due to sliding drawer configuration. Installation and haul off cost for three of the appliance units was close to $700. Returned trash compactor, gave up.

Drawer broke and it’s barely over a year old. Not the money.

Ge 15" Trash Compactor

So far it performs as expected, exactly as advertised. We are taking the garbage out much less often.

Hands Free!

Needed a new compactor fast and it was here quickly. It works great and looks slick. I love that the foot petal opens it and if you push up on it with your foot it compacts it instead of a dial so the front looks clean and it’s 100% hands free!

Excellent basic with Style

Love the Look, sleek and modern. Love the foot release, press down for opening and up for compacting. A little concerned as to how it gets opened if the machine ever gets jammed because of no handle but.... however, will cross that if/when it ever happens. Capacity is standard. Installation was a snap as it just rolls into the space and plugs in with minor height adjustment to counter. Does not seem any noisier than our old Jenn-Air. Just wish it had the touches stainless steel since there...

I don't understand why Trash Compactors have such a limited selection - this is by far one of my favorite appliances, I actually have TWO, one for each side of the kitchen!

Love it

It works great not too noisy when compacting trash. Only thing I miss is no handle but I just need to get used to it.

First time compactor buyer

The trash compactor works great. It is a bit noisy and the capacity isn't what I thought it was. Overall, I think that I would buy it again.

Nice features, has all I need.

Capacity is good, not too noisy, performance has been good, this GE Compactor has a nice sleek look in stainless steel. It feels like it will be durable for years to come. My last compactor last 30 years and I expect this one to last as long; although, I am not going to last that long. Have a Blessed Day, from a little old lady.

Won't last

I have only had this trash compactor a little over a year and it is already broken and leaking fluids from the mechanism that runs it. I have owned trash compactors for over 30 years and I have never had one fail in less than 20 years before. This is not a good product.

Poor Quality

I've had this compactor for less than 2 years. I bought the extended warranty from GE after about 20 emails from GE on the topic after having a repair while it was under warranty. I've had 5 repairs on it under the extended warranty after the one under warranty. I echo other reviews that the foot pedal is not durable and that was one of the repairs. The unit is broken again as it has been for all but a couple days in 2025 and the extended warranty is still not providing a repair.
