Replaces Nest Protect

I purchased this product because my Nest Protect is no longer manufactured by Google (Nestlabs) and 2 Nest Protects that were installed 10 years ago no longer worked as they had expired. The First Alert products were easy to install and came with multiple adapters to fit the wired connections. The only drawbacks are that they do not have a night light feature that detects motion in the dark which is a feature that the Nest Protect had.

Easy to set up!

The software setup was quick and easy! I like knowing that I can be alerted when away from home. It easily integrated with Google Home, although not sure how helpful that is, the App that comes with the detector has more info than the Google integration.

I am impressed with these alarms. They detected lower levels of carbon monoxide than my other alarms.

Title: Works exactly as promised This smart photo sensor was easy to set up and has been very reliable. The battery life is excellent, and it responds quickly every time. I like that it works seamlessly with my existing smart home setup. Definitely a great product and worth the purchase.

I purchased 5 of these things at the end of July, 2025. I regret the purchase. They were intended to replace NEST PROTECTS that had reached their end of life, I have the APP and only found out how to connect the devices to the APP after they were installed. Don't lose the papers that come with these because you need the QR mark to connect them to the app without climbing back up on a ladder. So after they got connected to the app and the WIFI, they frequently lost thier connection and after...

Good idea, poor execution

Was super excited about this as plug and play for the expired nest protects but the problems started right away. Upon unboxing, the instructions point you to the wrong app. During the installation of one of them, it didn't register properly and I had to call customer service to de-register the unit and register again which was a whole process that involved phone and email. Once installed the problems continued. They randomly disconnect from wifi and I've had the obnoxious false alarms in two of ...

had 3, they just go off randomly and I had to stand on chair to take down and get battery out inorder to shut off. Thought maybe I bought bad batteries, nope did it with next new batch too. 🤷

Easily compatible with existing Nest detectors.

I like that it is compatible with my existing Nest detectors. I was even able to use the Nest base plate that was already installed. The device was fairly easy to set up. As usual, it was challenge to connect with Wi-Fi. I thought I was successful but a few hours later was told it was offline. Had to do a reset.
