I purchased the smoke and carbon monoxide detector to replace our current Nest detectors which were at their 10 year life span. They have given false carbon monoxide and smoke detection multiple times in two months.

Replaces Nest. Not impressed.

Replaced Nest products and the setup was easy. 3 units installed for one week and already had two false smoke alarms in the basement unit. Never happened with Nest in the exact same spot (brackets compatible). Further, you are unable to MUTE the alarm until it deems the “smoke” has cleared. So, all three units are blaring for a minute or two without any option to override the alarm. No heads up alert (although enabled).. nothing. First Alert is not Nest

I thought I was getting a direct replacement for my expiring Nest products - WRONG! They just connect to the Nest app. The First Alert app is not as good either, instructions are inadequate.

Be cautious, it will NOT connect with Nest

I liked that it fit perfectly on the mount where the Nest Protect used to be, however I didn’t like that it would not connect seamlessly with my Nest thermostat.

Lot's of room for improvement

good replacement for discontinued Google Nest det.

This is a nice smoke/CO detector and was easy to install, replacing the discontinued Google Nest detector using the Nest base (i.e., you don't have to disconnect/remove the Nest base and rewire/install the First Alert base). You can also add the SC5 to online monitoring apps, although not to the Google Nest app which may be on its way out like the Nest detector. Okay Replacement Option for Nest But a Downgrade

Recently purchased several of these First Alert Battery-Operated Smoke and CO2 Detectors to replace my expiring Nest Protect Smoke/C02 Detectors, which had worked with no issues for 10 years using the Nest App and more recently the Google Home App. These First Alert detectors are currently the best option if you want a smart smoke/C02 detector similar to the discontinued Nest detectors, but in my opinion the First Alert detectors fall short and are a downgrade especially given the price poin...

Replaced my Nest. Easy to install, didn't need to install a new mounting bracket--Yaay! but it's NOT the Nest. The original Nest was a much better design. First Alert forgot about the night light feature that lit up every time you walked down the darkened hallway at night. Also doesn't work with the current Nest app so you need to install First Alert's which is really stupid. Replaced Nest

PERFECT replacement for my 5 old Nest smoke detectors that expired this month. The back plate that was originally mounted onto my walls from Next …can be left in place, as the new First Alert Smart Alarm made their new alarm fit seamlessly onto it! Simple setup too!

Pleased with features

I very recently purchased and installed this device. I was looking for a smart Smole/CO, as I wanted to be notified if my devices ever activated and I wasn't home. The installation was straightforward, and the device interconnects to my existing Smoke/CO's detectors. Once the app is installed, connection to WIFI is easy. I like the ability to test the device directly from the app.
