Would leave 0 stars if I could As others noted on here, have had Nest Protect for years without a single false alarm (though plent of real alerts) Had these for 2 days and had the pleasure of waking up with the kids at 1am with a false alarm! Faulty Alarms

We put these through our entire new house. We had our first one, stating that there was smoke in the house as we were all sitting there. It would continue to malfunction randomly. The last incident at 2 am in the morning. We replaced that one and 2 weeks later we had another one do the exact same thing. That is 2 alarms out of 5 that have malfunctioned in 3 months. Deserves Zero Stars

I Installed 9 units in a new house. Multiple nuisance trips at all times of day. App alerted me of smoke and a fire in my new house. Left a work meeting to speed home only to find no issue at all. 3 months old and about 10 nuisance alerts. Removing all 9 for a different product. Lowe's will not do anything about it since it is over 90 says since purchase. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT.

I have installed 7 of these in my own home (expensive!!!), 5 in another (expensive!!), and 1 in another. Each home believe it or not has suffered from a unit going bad and constantly false-alarming, which starts out of nowhere and at night, and cannot be resolved. Clearly a defect. I appreciate FA's responses to the other individuals who have experienced this, but it's clearly a manufacturing/design issue that needs to be looked into. connecting to internet not necessary for operation

The discontinued Nest smoke detector was a problem, this one is almost exactly like it, uses same backplate and wiring, so replacing all of them was not a problem.

Good nest protect replacement

Direct replacement for the nest protect. Fit easily into the old nest mounts and had no problems linking it to the other smoke alarms. Some reviews mentioned false alarms but thus far I have had zero problems. A little pricey but seem to be of good quality and at least at the moment the best nest protect replacement that I have found.

Easy Swap!

I replaced my expiring Nest Smoke/CO2 Alarms with this First Alert unit, since Google discontinued the Nest line. The switch was easy; it connected directly and linked to the app without any trouble. I do like that any updates are distributed over the air (ala Tesla!). I just miss the Nest's green light that illuminated the floor at night. Overall, it's a solid replacement that I highly recommend! I intend to purchase another 7 to complete a whole house installation.

Terrible Experience

I own a small inn. I bought five of these to replace some of the Nest units in my inn that were expiring, as Google recommends. I urge you not to buy this product. In the past three months, I have had four false alarms, including one that woke up all my guests at 4 a.m. I don't have any issues with the Nest products that remain in service. first alert fails again

30 year master electrician, another half crappy product of false alarms. Had for a month and already had first false alarm at 11:30 at night.

Horrible product

The smoke detector is easy enough to setup, but you’ll wish you didn’t. It disconnects from WiFi on a daily basis and needs to be reset. Once you reset it it goes through test alarms so you end up having the smoke alarm go off every day 4+ times. Huge downgrade from Nest, I have no idea how First Alert got exclusive sales at any store. I would rather not have a smoke detector than to use this one again.

Good Replacement for Nest Protect

While annoyed that Google killed off Nest (we have 12 total Nest products in the house), we were happy to find these recommended smoke/carbon detectors. Overall, the install was a breeze. Easy Set Up / No pathway light

I bought this to replace an expired Nest detector. Set up was easy and works seamlessly with existing nest smoke detectors. It does not have the pathway light like the nest. I hope they add it in the future because to us it was a great feature.

Seems to be well made and reliable.

Doesn't connect to any app

It's supposed to work with the Nest App, the Google Home App, and/or the First Alert by Resideo App. It doesn't work with any of them! The Nest App wants you to scan the QR code, it doesn't recognize it, then if you use the "continue without scanning" option, the device is not listed for selection. For the Google Home app, it says you must use the Nest App. The First Alert by Resideo App has no options to add any device. So, the wireless part of these detectors that I paid for doesn't work.
