First ones failed, tried again, and failed again

I initially installed these in my house, and after about 2 months of working fine, one after another started going off randomly about once a week. Decided I probably just got a bad batch, so replaced all 9 with new ones...but same thing happened. Out of the 19 I got, only 2 haven't done this false alarming. With two kids below 4 years old in the house, you can see how this would be more than irritating.

GREAT CO SMOKE DETECTOR

7 years + 4 months: thats how long this type on CO-smoke detector lasted including new batteries changed X 2, that is the warranty they were given. So I get the voice alert to replace them I did so, all 3. The BRK company replaced one for no charge just shipping I purchased 2 more, these new ones have a 10 yr warranty. Great upgrade, cool that it talks

After discovering that they were all way beyond their service life, I replaced 6 smoke detectors, 4 with regular smoke detectors and 2 with these combo CO+smoke detectors, one on each floor. I like the talking and that you can customize it to say what room or location it's coming from. And with them all connected the other one will announce whether it's smoke or CO, but not which room. Voice alerts are very helpful.

Fairly easy to install and setup. Voice alerts are very helpful, especially on a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector like this. No wondering which beeping pattern means which detection because a voice says something like "warning: smoke in kitchen".

Great detector for code compliance

Bought several detectors to comply with new Code to have a carbon monoxide detector within 15 feet of each bedroom. These talk(!) and alarm loudly. These interconnect with my existing First Alert/BRK smoke detectors so great. Hexagonal shape makes these reafily recognizef as a CO/ smoke combination detector...needed when a home inspector or appraiser review your home.

Excellent product

We replaced all five older model detectors in our home, upgrading to detect both smoke and Carbon Monoxide. These are simple to install and link together to sound the alert to all other units. This is very good in that we have a larger home with three levels and potentially would not hear an alert if at the farthest point from a unit alarming. Smoke and carbon monoxide detector

Bought these to replace three that kept chirping. Found out via first alert customer service, the five chirps I was hearing meant the detector had reached their end of life. The three replacements were very easy to install and even came with batteries already in them. Did not have to replace the base as the new ones fit the old bases.

Do not trust previously opened item.

I ordered on line to replace existing detectors. Items arrived with non-intact packaging. One looked like it may have been installed. Wouldn't matter with most things, but with safety equipment, I am not willing to risk damage or tampering. I will return in person and replace with new, despite Covid risk and 70 mi around trip. I have been happy with this model in the past and demand replacement that I can trust.

Fire Dept. recommended combo Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors that are wired together. When 1 unit detects all alarms sound. Sound changes based upon type of concern, a voice announces where the problem was detected, and level of Carbon Monoxide found. The Electrician liked this brand as well. We feel much more safe knowing we are well protected!

After being awakened by all of the smoke alarms in the house blaring, I replaced the faulty one with this product and things have been fine ever since. No sleep interruptions.

Replacement of old detectors

So simple. Unplug old unit, exchange housing with old one and then plug in new detector. No need to rewire.

Smoke works good. No performance issues just a little pricey.

Great Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector

Unlike our previous smoke detector, this one detects the room that the alarm is coming from and also announces what the cause is. (It runs through an initial test to make sure everything's working correctly and you hear the announcements.) We've always bought First Alert and they've lasted the length of time before one is supposed to change them out (10 years suggested).
