Very difficult to figure out but worth the effort

Hands down, this is far and above the best smoke and CO detector simply because relative to the competition, it has virtually no false alarms (according to my googling, past usage of older models, and experience with other brands). Faulty

I’m very disappointed in this product. We had 3 new ones installed and have had problems with 2 of them going off for new reason at all causing unnecessary stress on my family. We had to disconnect one for the night as it kept going off in the middle of the night waking my children up and scaring them. After reading other’s reviews, it sounds like I’m not the only one with this problem. Numerous False Alarms

We installed 5 throughout my house and have had numerous false alarms. To the point where my family doesn't take it seriously. I wouldn't recommend these.

Great unit….great that Lowe’s had them in stock!

Our home, built in 2010, had all First Alert/BRK fire-smoke-CO2 detectors hardwired throughout the house. They were at the end of their lifespan….I was happy to find exact units available at Lowe’s, so as to prevent me from having to mess with wiring….while the baseplate had changed slightly, the four stars were warranted by how difficult it was to program the “voice location”. Still, I was very happy that the same models were available at Lowe’s.

FALSE ALARM DISCUSTED

These things go off when ever they feel like it. For NO REASON. Not cooking and not doing anything different than any other day. These are around 200 and some dollars. You think you would get better quality from FIRST ALERT. But I guess like any thing else NO ONE CARES for real.

Difficult to Program

I bought one of these for my daughter. I would have given it 5 stars, except that the instructions for programming the voice location for this item don't work. Once you install the battery and it gives its initial voice prompt, AFIK, you can't program the location (i.e. hallway). If you hold the button as directed, it gives a loud alarm tedst instead (which makes you deaf). I recommend users -- before you install the device -- install the batteries, upon the initial voice prompt, immediately...

They dont last the 10 rears

If the others I had lasted the 10 yrs - i wouldn't have bad to replace them. 4out of 9 replace now - had already replace 2 last year

BRK Hardwired Combination Smoke CO2 Detector

I have smoke detectors throughout my home and needed to replace the combination smoke/co2. This BRK is and has always been the best that I have found.

Stay away - goes off instead of chirping

After a ton of wake ups at 2am with kids in the house with false alarms, we spent nearly $1k and bought these to replace across our entire house. The false alarms continued after the first 6 months. Apparently these only go off completely with a low battery instead of chirping as a warning. I now walk around the house constantly looking for a red light on these worrying we are going to be woken up in the middle of the night. Re: BRK/First Alert Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm These use to be good. Recently however, I opened my $52 unit and discovered that BRK had cheapened their units. Instead of giving their customer two connectors, on their harness, for an easy install, they only give you one connector and the other end is just loose wires.
