What Customers Are Saying
The trimmer has a mixed performance. On the positive side, it is praised for its power, ease of use, and ergonomic design, handling thick weeds and grass effectively. Features like the tap-and-go string feed and low-vibration engine are appreciated. However, many users report reliability and durability issues, with problems like failure to start, broken pull cords, and trimmer head coming apart after limited use. Replacement parts availability is also a concern. Overall, the trimmer appears capable when functioning, but quality and consistency are inconsistent.

Great engine - horrible cutting head
Would Not RecommendIf I could replace the cutting head, I think this might be an OK string trimmer. The cutting head doesn't hold enough tension on the line, so once you start trimming, the line gets tangled and bound up in the head. To feed the line, I end up having to tear apart the head and manually feed the line. I 3D printed some replacement line grommets - trying to give it some tension - it worked for a little bit and then bound again. If I could, I'd return this - but it's been a year since I got it :...

great once it's running
Would Not RecommendI've only used this weed whacked two times and the pull string is broke. it will not retract back into the housing so you have to take it off and wind it back up every time which makes starting the machine a 30 minute process. I have never had issues with a weed whacked until this one.
Utter disappointment
Would Not RecommendTee second time I used this unit the head flew off that holds the string. It went into pieces and the steel rings that the string feeds through went flying and were never found. I need a new feeder head for the string and when I enter the WS2400 model number I can't find it. Very , very poor quality, unlike their hand tools.

1x use only
Would Not RecommendThis is the worst product I’ve ever encountered, literally a one time use product because as soon as the string breaks off you will never get it strung again. I have googled and video searched every method there is and it won’t hold.
Craftsman make good equipment
Would RecommendIt works like it should, because last year we bought a Troy Bilt and it never did feed the string after bumping it to feed. The book that came with it was not the correct book either. At least the guide book matches the weed eater.

Pull start is so cheap it broke on 2nd pull
Would Not RecommendThis is nothing more than a troy built with different plastic shroud but the pull start used on the craftsman model just plain sucks. Straight out of the box the spring broke on the 2nd pull but i bought this to replace an old troy built so rather than go through the aggravation of dealing with lowes and warranty just to get another that would do the same thing i just pulled the starter off my old troy built and went to work BUT just know if you buy one it's not IF it's when will the pull starte...
terrible pull string
Would Not RecommendI give it 2 starts because when it runs it works well. That being said, I've had this for almost 2 months, and the string pulls out and won't go back in. lowes says I can't return it because it's been more than a month and I have to go through craftsman. ok. I call craftsman and their response is take it to an authorized repair shop (closest one is about 45 minutes away) and they will determine if its fixable under warranty or not. So my choices are either fix it myself, or drive several 45 minu...
The head is poor quality
Would Not RecommendI have had this trimmer less than 6 months and the head has broken . The eyelets are gone and it won’t wind to hold the string . For what you pay it should last longer . I had to order a new head which I’m waiting on to see if it’ll work . Wouldn’t buy again .
Head flew apart
Would Not RecommendThis is the third time I've used this trimmer, the first two times the unit performed flawlessly, however on the third time started to trim , felt a weird vibration after about three minutes and the head flew to pieces, after about 30 mins. And my wife's help was able to finally recover the spring, put the head back together lasted 45 seconds , upon inspection found the head cracked in the thin area on the head where the tabs go in, very frustrating, love the starting, love the ease of winding ...
Pull Cord issues after 3rd use
Would Not RecommendWorked great the first two times we used it - on third try cord pulls out and now stuck with 2 feet of cord dangling. Waste of money - don't have receipt or original box. NO online support to solve the problem can be found and local repair guy is two months booked up and has no workforce anymore to help him out. Disappointed - craftsman tools love them! but lawn tools not impressed

Bad Bump Head
Would Not RecommendBought this to use in my yard. Seems to start well going into the third month but one of the line feeding metal guides came out, can't find it in the yard. The bump head is beginning to come apart, not well constructed. I've had other Craftsman tools but the trimmer isn't holding up. Also I can't find a parts diagram so I can order new parts. Lowes says contact You guys and you say contact Lowes, which one is it. Not at all satisfied.

Spool of string
Would Not RecommendI used this one time and I ran out of sting. So I purchased the sting and rewound it to the spool and to no what I tried to do the sting would not work. Every time I would try and weed wack the string would wrap around the shaft. So I was looking to buy the already spool replacement's but I can't find them anywhere. Is there any way to get replacement spools already with the string?

Recommend not buying this product
Would Not RecommendThe stringing does not work very long at all and is difficult and time consuming to try and restring - definitely returning for my money back and looking for a better option that works
Disappointed
Would Not RecommendBought this unit and it ran for about ten minutes. While trying to get it started again the starter cord pulled out and wouldn't go back in. Took cover off and got the cord and spring rewound, but it wouldn't start back up again. I waisted my money on this weed eater.
