What Customers Are Saying
The trimmer has a mixed performance. On the positive side, it is praised for its power, ease of use, and ergonomic design, handling thick weeds and grass effectively. Features like the tap-and-go string feed and low-vibration engine are appreciated. However, many users report reliability and durability issues, with problems like failure to start, broken pull cords, and trimmer head coming apart after limited use. Replacement parts availability is also a concern. Overall, the trimmer appears capable when functioning, but quality and consistency are inconsistent.

Would Not RecommendUsed for about 20 mins and the head came flying off and got my ankle. Plastic grooves that attach to the metal head were melted down nearly smooth.
Starting Tips & Use Craftsman 2400 Weed Wacker
Would RecommendI suggest that you read the attached book/guide for starting this tool I didn't and had difficulty starting it. Upon learning how to start it no problem 😊 it starts easily and runs like a champ. Have fun and enjoy. JR Boise

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
Would Not RecommendFrom the first time it started, it was only a guess if the WS2400 would run or not. Sometimes it would run without issues, you can lay it down for 10 minutes and it wouldn't run the rest of the day. A terrible product that Craftsman should be ashamed to put their name on..
Do not buy! MTD JUNK!
Would Not RecommendVery hard to start. Hard to rewind string. Spool wouldn’t hold the string tight enough to wind it up.

Short Life
Would Not RecommendI purchased two of these. Both ran well at first but then dogged out after about 5 hours of occasional use. I returned to the store and was given a Craftsman number for warranty claims. I called that number a good dozen times over the summer, waited on hold, left a callback number half a dozen times and never had a contact. It is now too late for a credit card chargeback and small claims court may be the only recourse. A warranty means little on a $200 product if you have to sue to contact the m...

Broke the 3rd time I used it
Would RecommendThe choke lever broke the 3rd time I used it, but it was an easy fix, it has great power, cuts great, a little on the heavy side for a 2 stroke
This is a Toy Trimmer
Would Not RecommendCommercial Grade is a Big Word for this Trimmer. I would rename it as Craftsman’s Toy Trimmer. Please Don’t Buy this Toy Trimmer; this trimmer is a joke!!! After 5 uses around the house, the trimmer’s-head just came flying off. I bought it in May/2022 and in Sept/2022 had to take it to Craftsman’ warranty. Craftman assigned me a case number and where to take it to get it fix. Long story short, head is being replaced since head is plastic and locking mechanism is metal. Called today Oct 20, 2022 ...

Fine for me
Would RecommendBought this 27cc weed eater to use for cutting brush around my pond. So far so good. I used a 5 1/2" skill saw blade for cutting most of the larger pieces of brush the went to the pictured weed eater head for the rest of the brush. No issues with power or starting.
Powerful
Would RecommendIt's very powerful. It's undergone some really good upgrades in the last couple years.

On my second one
Would Not RecommendI have bought two within less than a year for both they just stop starting seems like it is not getting gas even w a full tank do not buy this , typical lows product that last a year so you have to come back and buy another
have to buy a whole new unit for one part
Would Not Recommendi bought this weed eater for my husband as a house warming gift and he was trimming the yard when the head fell off and the spring disappeared. now we being told we have to buy another one instead of just being able to get a replacement spring. TOTAL CRAP!!
Garbage- Pulley system fails to retract
Would Not RecommendDon’t buy this machine. Listen to other reviews. I ignored them only to regret it. The pulley system failed to retract on my 4th time using the machine. The start up was nice the first two time of use. I even emptied the gas tank after each use. Now it’s increasingly harder to start up. Craftsman used to be so good. Those days are long gone now. How sad, and service locations are closed on weekends. My lawn looks unfinished now
Pull chord snapped and carb needs replaced
Would Not RecommendBought this weed eater last year and it worked like a charm for it's first season. Come 2022 and I go to start it after filling up with fresh mixed fuel. Has trouble starting. Turns put the carb is gummed up and needed cleaning. Use it for another month. Carb is gummed up again and needs rebuilt. Revuild the carb and then the pull string unspools and refuses to recoil. I dunno about anyone else but I expect my equipment to last more than a season and a half.
