What Customers Are Saying
The Kobalt post hole digger received mixed reviews. Many customers found it well-designed and durable, with pointed metal tips, sturdy construction, and comfortable handles that made digging holes easier, especially in softer soils. However, some reported issues with its performance and durability, struggling in harder, rockier soil and experiencing broken or loose components after extended use. The overall consensus suggests the digger is a good option for softer soils, but may not be as effective in more demanding conditions.

Would RecommendHaving read other reviews I was skeptical about this tool, but decided to go look at it in the store. After looking It over and comparing to the other 2 types for sale I decided to purchase this one. I have not been disappointed with it. I'm currently digging through 2 feet of clay and it just keeps on digging. I let the tool do the digging. Like any tool, if you abuse it, it will break. This one does a good job, well with the money.
Long term use tbd
Would RecommendAfter i use it in Parker County Texas for a while, I may wish for a power auger. I expect this to hold up better than I do.. I want to see what its steel [mettle[sic]} is made of....
14-3/8-in Post Hole Digger
Would Not Recommendi had gotten a wooden one with the square handels on it.. that broke after some heavy work.. i got this as i was thinking fiber glass would be better of holding up.. i see the points on the ends of the blade stop the blades from closing and holding in the dirt... makes a good hole but stinks at getting the dirt out of the hole.. my next one is going to be getting the round wooden handel post hole digger
Best post hole diggers!
Would RecommendThis is a well designed tool. The two "spoons" close much more accurately than any I've ever used… practically touching. That results in a quicker job because it leaves less of the scooped dirt down in the hole.
Excellent Product
Would RecommendThese Post Hole Diggers are the best I have ever used. Using them in ground with coral rock are the best. You hardly ever have to use a pick ax as you would with other post hole diggers.
great purchase
Would RecommendThese hole diggers are very sturdy and should stand the test of time. Have used the old wooden handled versions until now. The way the handles are shaped won't pinch your hands and feel very comfortable.
Kobalt Post hole shovel
Would RecommendAt first I was a bit skeptical about these because they were a little pricey at $35.00 but I had two posts broke off in my yard and two more headed that way so digging with a spade was out. I had a pair of old post hole diggers but they had the fiberglass handles and you could not keep the the bolt holes holding the head on from splitting out when they were used to dig the dirt out of the hole with the drop, push, and twist motion needed for a good post hole. These Kobalt's are great. My neighbo...
Did the job better than expected!
Would RecommendHad to did 12 fence posts and already had a post hole digger from the Orange store. On the third hole the handle broke,it was suppose to be ash,but looked more like pine to me.Lowes is closer to me than the Orange store so I thought I would just get a replacement handle for it.I saw this one and thought it looked pretty good with the fiberglass handles,so I bought it instead of a replacement handle.Finished the rest of the holes and was impressed with the lever action of the tool.It allows you to...
Most efficient Post Holer Digger out there
Would RecommendThis digger makes a difficult job much easier. It is relatively lightweight and easy to handle.
Post hole digger
Would Not RecommendThe design is good but the handle broke after my third time using it. I thnk the fiberglass/wood handles could be something else stronger and more durable.
My 11 year old was able 2 use it
Would Recommendwe dig post holes for our yard and it worked really well, I liked that the dirt didn't fall out of the end and that wasn't to hard to use cause even my 11 year old son was able to help
Great tool for the money
Would RecommendI live in the Rocky Mountains, there is a reason why there are called the ROCKY Mountains. I dug 21 post holes with this tool and they worked great. I still needed to use a digging bar to loosen the bigger rocks, but with the pointed spades the smaller (fist size) rocks came out with little effort. With out the rocks this soil is a little sandy and the pointed spades did make it harder to remove a large amount sandy soil at time. This tool worked 95% better then my old style of diggers, great to...
Great re-design of a classic tool.
Would RecommendPointed shovel sides at the base, handle stop mid-way prevents knuckle slams and doubles as a hole depth reference. Very nice tool even in rocky soil conditions.
Worth the price!
Would RecommendI looked at half a dozen post hole diggers before making this purchase. I liked this finger-protecting design the best, and this one was not even the most expensive. There was one that cost a few dollars more. I've dug 11 30 inch holes with this digger so far and think it works very well. The pointed ends really punch through the dirt and I did't pinch my fingers once. A very good product.
Easy digging
Would RecommendI bought these when my gas powered auger sprung a leak in the fuel line. Only needed to dig a few more holes, so I thought this would work. Boy was I right. It was perfect and made quick work of several roots that I ran across. These roots would have jammed up in the powered auger and probably thrown me to the ground. I'd definitely recommend these to someone else.
nicest post hole digger to date
Would RecommendNo knuckle busting with these. Probably can't dig as deep because of the handle, but had no problem with a 3 ft hole
