What Customers Are Saying
The Kobalt post hole digger received mixed reviews. Many customers found it well-designed and durable, with pointed metal tips, sturdy construction, and comfortable handles that made digging holes easier, especially in softer soils. However, some reported issues with its performance and durability, struggling in harder, rockier soil and experiencing broken or loose components after extended use. The overall consensus suggests the digger is a good option for softer soils, but may not be as effective in more demanding conditions.

Would RecommendIn comparison to other(standard?) models it is light weight, easier to use, pointed jaws dig better and keep more dirt for removal. Cuts through up to 1/4" roots.
Well made tool
Would RecommendI purchased this particular post hole digger because my old one had wood handles that were rotted. Works very well- blades come to a point unlike most others I have seen.
Worst digger on the planet
Would Not RecommendI install fences of which I usually use an auger to make my holes 2 feet deep. However, I sometimes have to use a post hole digger when the angle is bad or I need to clean out small roots. I bought this digger because I was in a hurry and it was the most expensive one. I assumed it would be the best one they had. I'll NEVER buy another outdoor tool that has aluminium or fiberglass handles they fit into a steal end. After 3 days of use one of the long arms snapped. Put this digger back and get th...
Sharp Points
Would RecommendMy husband needed a post hole digger and out of the choices they had I felt this would work the best in our clay and rocky soil. It had the strongest shovels and nice points on the ends, it also has fiberglass handles. My husband thought I picked out a good product when he saw it. He hasn't had a chance to use it yet, but I think it will make his job easier.
Last you will ever buy
Would RecommendI had a regular inexpensive post hole digger but sold it when we relocated to Washington state because I knew we would be purchasing a fixer-upper & would need something better. When I saw this one, I knew I would need its features - heavy duty, pointed blades, design to prevent knuckle/finger pinching, short throw with full bite, fiberglass handles. At 72 I know this one will outlive me.
THEY HAVE COME A LONG WAY
Would RecommendIF YOU REALLY NEED TO USE A POST HOLE DIGGER THIS IS THE ONE TO USE. THEY HAVE COME A LONG WAY . THE DAYS OF SMASHING YOUR KNUCKLES TOGETHER ARE GONE WITH THIS DIGGER . ITS VERY STRONG AND THE POINTED CLAM IS A BIG PLUS TOO .WELL WORTH THE MONEY ,
Good Product
Would RecommendOnly had it a couple of weeks but dug about 15 holes. It works very well and seems very well built. So far a good buy but only time will tell.
Great Post Digger
Would RecommendI had to put a privacy fence up in Oklahoma red dirt and clay. These diggers cut right into the ground and with a good twist got even the deep clay out. They were really nice and I am very happy with them.
Best "hand" Post hole digger we have ever used
Would RecommendThe bladed ends really help dig thru the dirt. Made very well, dug to 48" thru clay and sand mix quickly and the soft grips made it easier on the hands as well.
Great tool for the job
Would RecommendI was wanting a way to dig holes for planting within a wrapped and graveled area without having to use a spade. I felt that the post hole digger would allow me to scoop dirt straight up and not make a mess on the rocks. Well, it certainly does just that, and the tool is sturdy enough to twist in a circular motion within the hole to make it as round as possible.
Worse Tool Purchase EVER!
Would Not RecommendThis tool looked like it was better quality compared to my other choices at Lowes however, when we got it home and tried to start digging some holes, the darn thing would not pull up any dirt because of the pointed ends. Those pointed ends make sense for digging but not when it comes to pulling the dirt out of the hole. I immediately returned the product to Lowes and told the customer service representative that it was the worse tool purchase I have ever made in my 60 years of living on planet e...
I like the big shovels and quick action
Would RecommendShopping on Wed evening. Had 5 items to buy and it took over one hour. Couldn't find anyone in plumbing and finally got some help from someone from another dept. He didn't really know - but we worked it out. Needed a shower rod - took about 25 mins - finally got some good help from a guy in flooring. Overall the people that helped were very helpful - but it took too long to get help. My time is worth something too.
Glad I chose these over the wooden handles.
Would RecommendDurable product. You don't have to worry about breaking handles on a tough job.
Digs a hole.
Would RecommendIt works fine. I purchased the cheaper Kobalt hole digger first, and it broke on the first hole. I returned it and got this one. It's a bit in the expensive side but works fine. I had to get the job done and didn't have time to shop around.
Not as fast as a power auger
Would RecommendAs far as post hole diggers go: For a manual clam shell type this one surly beats the old wooden stick type. I don't do a whole lot of fencing that said, I installed about 120' across the back yard using this. It worked very well. I had no problems other than large rocks in the hole. This digger did a fine job and it works well for planting also. They are very handy to have around when working in the garden as well as digging post holes. I'm glad i bought this one as it seems to hold an edge wel...
