What Customers Are Saying
The Kobalt post hole digger received mixed reviews. Many customers found it well-designed and durable, with pointed metal tips, sturdy construction, and comfortable handles that made digging holes easier, especially in softer soils. However, some reported issues with its performance and durability, struggling in harder, rockier soil and experiencing broken or loose components after extended use. The overall consensus suggests the digger is a good option for softer soils, but may not be as effective in more demanding conditions.

Would RecommendPost hole digger got me through 19 4' holes on hole 20 the fiberglass handle cracked and broke in my hand. Went to Lowe's to exchange but they were sold out. Read other reviews and same issue was happening. Got a full refund.
Not durable
Would Not RecommendScrew losen after three hole. Tip bent during hole 4.
Easy to use
Would RecommendFast and efficient, feels like it is built to last for sometime.
The Best Post Hole Digger
Would RecommendHelping my son install a black chain link fence-we were dreading digging the holes-went to look for one-we were impressed with quality and price-it made the job easier
Worth it
Would RecommendIt was worth getting the metal pair, cost a bit but worked fantastic!
All metal post hole diggers
Would RecommendLove the criss-cross design, nice pointed tips close together well, I have used post hole diggers more than I care to remember, these are the best ones I have ever used.
Kobalt post hole diggers
Would RecommendNeeded another set of post hole diggers for an upcoming job. They worked great. Different kind of design. Tried them anyway. They worked great would buy again if needed.
Works great
Would RecommendIt is a little on the heavy side, but it works great.
Lasted 7 holes
Would Not RecommendThe only redeeming quality of these diggers is the lifetime warranty. After 2 holes the shaft started twisting. I dug 7 holes and the shaft cracked open. The diggers look like they are well built but all the bolts start loosening which make them wobbly. Luckily after I exchanged them for a new set I only had 2 holes left to dig. I can't imagine how many pairs I would have to go though if I had to build a serious fence. I would suggest renting an auger or getting a traditional set of post hole di...
Kobalt post hole digger
Would RecommendMuch better than the standard wood handle post hole diggers. They feature a pointed tip great for hard clay dirt and cutting through roots. They also close completely unlike most where there is a gap allowing loose soil to fall back into hole. The second pivot part helps dig deeper holes without handles hitting side of hole. Overall good product
Awesome post hope digger!
Would RecommendI dug several 3ft deep holes for a huge batting cage. No other tool would have worked! Sharp edges and narrow angle allows you to dig deeper and faster without arm fatigue!
Post hole digger as it should be finally
Would RecommendThese Kobalt post hole diggers are what I have always wanted in a manual set of diggers. They have the heft that you need to dig through hard soil without being too heavy for a long day of post setting. After years of knuckle bruising post hole diggers here is a set that works with out banging the heck out of your fingers. I recommend these to anyone who needs new ones or anybody who needs their first set. These are solid and well made.
Pretty decent
Would RecommendI read a few negative complaints about the handles not being great quality. I've put these post hole diggers through some tough digging. And they seem to be holding up just fine. The blade design digs right in. The guard in between to keep your fingers from smashing is nice. I like these enough that if the handles were to ever break I'd just replace them with something stronger, like hickory. And keep on digging. The price was worth it.
Junk handles
Would Not Recommend3 years of just light use and the handles fell apart. They are made of glued up pieces of wood with a fiberglass overlay. The wood glue-up failed, resulting in my having to buy new handles. (I went with tried and true hickory, $28.00, this time.) The steel itself is fine and holds a decent edge if you sharpen it with a file every now and again, but the handles they attached are garbage.
Good design
Would RecommendMakes digging a deeper postal much easier. The handles do not have to spread out as far to lift the dirt out. Works very well as designed.
Solid but pricey
Would RecommendThis was the most expensive post hole digger are available at Lowe's. But it was well worth the price. It has an excellent design and is a solid tool. I highly recommend it but be ready to pay a bit more in price
Good design
Would RecommendI replaced an old wooden handled typical digger with this one because I expected some trouble with rock and the old one would bend the end of the tips easily. This koblat digger has a linkage similar to some tree pruners. The shovel tips move farther than the handles. So when the hole starts getting deep, you can still open the shovel pretty wide. Also, the shovel heads are pretty thick and seemed really strong. I didn't run into much rock on my first use but I'm very happy compared to the old o...
