Would RecommendHeld a cracked floor joist up during repair - excellent. I did not try to jack with this but used it to hold only after jacking. May have been usable as a screw jack but I'll never know. Held well for the days needed and is robust enough to use as a permanent post to take the curse out of a warped and sagging floor if that's what you need.

Would RecommendNever used one of these before as I have always used a 4 x 4 to support structures. I work alone doing renovation and decided to get 2 of them. Found out really quick that they are simple and effective and can actually do better than wood, as they are adjustable! Great items to add if you do home renovations
