This lamp was average. One of the wires from the ballast to the bulb holder was not connected. The wire was easily insertable, but should have been installed properly by the factory.

Poor Quality Light

After going to the trouble to install this light, I put bulbs in and turned it on, only to be disappointed. One bulb was bright on the ends, dull in the middle. The other one was dull the full length. It did not improve with time as it warmed up. Trying new bulbs didn't change the result. In addition, the 'wrap' cover had a crack in it right out of the box. So I packed it up and returned it to the store for a refund.

Good product for value

I should have asked more questions before purchasing this item. It doesn't have an on/off switch and must be unplugged each time I want to turn it on or off.

Good value.

This unit can be mounted directly to ceiling without the need for an air gap (unlike many shop lights that must be suspended away from the ceiling). I would like to see a hole pattern in the center that would allow the unit to be secured to a ceiling junction box.

Ok purchase

Installation was easy, light works fine, but is not bright enough for where it is located. It uses the newer light bulbs that are not as bright, and since I have it in the basement where it is dark I need more candle power. It's not a reflection on the unit itself as much as the application, but I gave it an average rating.

Possibly the worst product I've ever purchased

I purchased four of these for a new home and they were installed by the electrical contractor on the job. Within six months the ballast went out on one of them so I called the manufacturer and they sent me a new ballast. Unfortunately it was not the right ballast. So I had to call back and deal with a customer service rep that clearly didn't like their job. After another two weeks of darkness I finally received the new ballast and installed it myself, which was a total hassle. Now one year later...

Poor Cover

Cover cracked when I took it off to put in the bulbs for the first time.

product installation instructions did not match the product---there was no knockout plug, only a small hole to extend the wiring; had to improvise and drill a larger hole

48 5/8" Utility Fluorescent Ligthing

I bought this light for my 74 year old mother's kitchen at first she didn't like it because it wasn't the one she had but once it was installed I've got to get her 2 more for her laundry room she is loving it. It was easy to install and gives off great lighting! And the price was great.

way better than the home depot version

Bought one of these generic things.and installed it. You only need to find a way to adapt it to the distance between your ceiling joists, and understand the bare minimum of electricity. Needed anothe and picked up a same price version at Home Depot. That version had fittings for the builbs that I discovered (after installation) were plainly defective. Back to Lowes for another of these, and 15 minutes of work later, had it installed. Works fine, no bother.

is everything you buy junk now?

zero for two. and yes I know the bulbs work. yes the are now run in serial so if one goes out the other doesn't work. leave room for your finger underneath because the ground wire is held on by a nut. Don't care about the center ballast cover.. but yes there isn't one anymore.

So far, so good

I bought 2 of these to light my 16 x 16 shop.. They were easy to install with 4 screws and a couple of wire nuts. I used a couple of daylight bulbs and they put out plenty of light. At roughly 20 bucks apiece, I'd say that's money well spent.

Horrible quality ballasts do not last.

I put up one of these lights in my house and the ballast stopped working in less than a year. It is almost as cheap to buy an entire new fixture than to buy a new ballast. Save your money and buy something that will last longer. Only knockouts in center - not on ends.

HUGE disappointment

I purchased 42 of these fixtures for a large project. First one I opened had a smashed diffuser. Not a huge issue in and of itself because I expected a few defects and purchased a few extras. What really frustrated me though was that the design has apparently quietly changed (read CHEAPER). What I received still has the same model # and price, but the actual fixture does not match the model on display in the stores or even the picture on the box they come in. Poor Quality Coupled with Terrible Longevity

Have purchased six of these fixtures and five of them have failed within eight months!!! The previous T12 setup had lasted well over ten years with nothing but bulb replacements. These appear to have ballasts made of subpar quality that fail far too quick for this type of product. Moreover, the actual quality of the materials used to manufacture the light fixture as well as the tolerance for the various parts leave a great deal to be desired. Never has that old adage of you get what you pay for ...

Pass by this light

Don't buy this light..... I purchased two of these lights for my basement. Unfortunately the quality of this light didn't even last through installation. The electrician installed the first one and it had a bad ballast. He replaced the ballast during installation on the first light. The second one was installed and appeared to work. The next morning, with the flip of the switch, the second light also quit working. I contacted the store and received a new light to replace the bad one after three ...

Cheap -- poor quality

I purchased four of these. When my contractor arrived and we opened the boxes we found 2 of the 4 had broken pieces. At this point we had to install the lights so returning the lights was not an option. We repaired them with duct tape. The fixtures are very flimsy. We have trouble with one of the bulb sockets not wanting to maintain contact. We think that has been corrected. Only time will tell.
