Would RecommendStain/seal your post color of your liking. Dig a hole, put some cement and gravel in the hole with your post. Buy a new mailbox and lettering. Will never go anywhere.

Would RecommendPressure treated, but I caulked the joints and painted it gray. Installed easily. Added house numbers and reflector. Should be good for 25 years. House numbers are on the other side in the picture.
