Rough fit and finish
I honestly would pay more for a mailbox post that did not have such poor fit and finish. There are gaps in all joints.

Would RecommendThe post is a decent post that does work as intended the only problem that I have is that a number of the post have a significant split in the beams. I checked all the available ones and choose the one that was the best of the bunch. It would be nice if they took more pride when making these posts and don’t significantly damage them while making them. It wouldn’t take much to stop the splitting as one could guess that they didn’t use the best technique when pre-drilling holes or nailing / scre...

Still in service after 20 years
Would RecommendMine works great and is still in service after 20 years... it has out lasted 3 mailboxes and is still sturdy. It has some weathering splits and checks, as all wood does as it dries out, but it is solid as a rock.

Would RecommendI had just wanted to buy one of the hard plastic all-in-one mailbox/posts but my husband thought it would be better to get something that was wooden for durability. Now that it's in, I couldn't agree more. He said installation was quick and easy. I am painting it white this weekend and putting a new black mailbox on it. It would look great even if left unpainted. We've only had it up for about 3 weeks but so far, so good. It's heavy and seems like it will last for a long time.
