Disappointing

I've used this to put seed and fertilizer down 2 times. For some reason the spreader is very inconsistent with how much products is put on to the ground. It seems like it just dumps out through the middle causing stripes/checkerboard patterns in my grass.

Bad Spreader Bar Design

The plastic shuut-off bar bends and flexes, resulting on it jamming open and allowing excess product to fall onto the lawn, resulting in dead spots. I previously owned a Scottts spreader with a steel shut-off bar. In 20+ years of use I NEVER had this issue. Is a steel bar available as a Service Part?

Doesn’t do the job.

I have been using Scotts fertilizer and weed control products for years. I bought the mini last fall to replace a 40 year old Ortho broadcast spreader. I was tired of calculating the Ortho’s setting every time I used a Scotts product and I thought the edge guard was a good idea and it was a Scotts product. This product doesn't work on wet turf.

I bought a Scotts Classic Drop Spreader, and in the early morning while my lawn was wet with dew, I sought to apply Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed. The application instructions state that it is best to apply the product when the grass is wet, however, the moisture clogs the spreader discharge holes preventing the Weed and Feed from evenly going onto the lawn even though I cut the grass well short before application. Absolute junk. I've always used Scott's products. This was to replace an older spreader that finally rusted away. I now have an unsightly checkerboard pattern on my lawn.

Spreads fertilizer in narrow stripes. Every time.

I thought this product would spread fertilizer evenly. Not even close.

Mini spreader worked but setting info impossible y

Mini edge guard Spreader work as advertised. But I too got very frustrated at not being able to find setting info for Scott’s weed and feed on neither the bag nor the website. I did some math based on estimates and set it at 4. Seems right amount. But this is a big screwup on Scott’s part.

Broke

Worked fine the first time pulled it out to do another section of lawn. It refuses to drop product. I emptied it refilled with a lesser amount incase I had over filled. The axel is turning so I assume the problem is in the release trigger. Is there a way to test this.

Zero quality in your drop spreader

I spent the extra money to buy your drop spreader vs broadcast. Almost a half acre to walk at almost 70 years old. My husband would be angry if he knew how much I spent for what I thought was a better spreader. Setting this is to complex and no matter what you do it doesn’t drop product. Doesn't work

Bought this to use to replace another scotts spreader after moving. I used this to put down turf builder with halts, using the recommended settings on the bag. I now have a very nice striped lawn. I will have to redo the fertilizer to try to get rid of the strips. This is a terrible product.

Do not buy!!

I bought this a few weeks ago. The striping is on my lawn is horrible. I now have a checker board pattern throughout my yard.

Horrible spreader! Buy a better brand!

Will be returning Scotts Edgeguard Mini Spreader for a better brand! Tried to look up settings instructions for applying a Non Scotts product. details on Scotts website says to find spreader setting instructions on their website! There is NO settings chart on website! What a scam! Scotts has really gone down hill, with this attempt to force customers to purchase Scotts ONLY products!! We’ll never purchase a Scotts product again!

No guide to what setting to use.

One the spreader, it says to look at the website to get the settings to be used. There is no such information on the website. I have looked at a handful of the reviews and many are complaining about the same thing. Otherwise, the spreader worked fine. But there needs to be instructions!

Agitator won't stay on

The agitator keeps popping off. I tried putting in less material, but it just comes off again.

Scott's attempting to lock in customers

No information for spreading products unless they are Scott's. Why not provide a simple link instead of asking customers to call a number. Useless. I won't buy any more Scott's products since this is a pathetic attempt to lock us in.

I bought a bag of 16 16 16 What setting do I use with my Scotts 3000 nothing on the bag tells me?

Why are there no settings like lb/acre?

I bought this a couple of years ago and it works fine but there are no settings on it so if the bag does not tell what setting to put it on for the product it is worse than guess work. No idea what to set it on for non Scott products or others that do not specifically list Scotss Mini on the bag.

Abismal performance with grass seed

I bought this this drop spreader a few weeks ago and used it today for the first time to overseed with Scott's New England Mix grass seeds. The spreader wheel would not turn at all with a reasonable amount of seed in the hopper. It would only work with about 1/2 to 1 inch depth of seed and my full weight pressing down on the unit to make the wheel turn. When empty, it turned perfectly, but that its not what I bought it for.

Pellets Get Stuck

I bought this last September 2023 to apply starter fertilizer to my new lawn. The big issue I had with this product was that the fertilizer pellets would get wedged between the hopper and the shutoff bar (the molded black plastic bar that pivots when the trigger is pulled). I followed the instructions to calibrate the spreader before first use. I have the classic drop spreader so I calibrated it at 8. Even with calibration the pellets would get stuck.
