What Customers Are Saying
Customers are divided on this battery-powered spreader. Many praise its ease of use and convenience for small yards, appreciating the trigger operation and minimal effort required for light tasks like seeding and fertilizing. However, a substantial group reports significant frustration with mechanical failures, describing the motor as weak and the unit stopping after minimal use despite fresh batteries. Several note it jams with ice melt and granular materials, requiring constant manual intervention. Overall, while many find it suitable for small-scale work, reliability concerns and performance inconsistencies leave others deeply dissatisfied.

Would RecommendVery convenient. I have trouble walking at my age. I use a golf cart and this product with one hand to fertilize and seed lawn.

Work saver
Absolutely great but has rust issues with the battery cover screw. I can see why it's called Wizz, for me that means it's a whiz to use..This really beats rolling a fertilizer spreader around the yard. You do have to make sure your fertilizer doesn't contain lumps and you store this in a very dry place, indoors I think to prevent it from rusting..If this one gives out I'll definitely get another one. The only big negative is it's a bit pricey.

DON'T CRANK A HANDLE. BUY THIS ONE.
perfect for spreading armadillo repellant - Way better than cranking a handle as my last one

A manually cranked spreader is better
Would Not RecommendI thought I would like the fact that it is battery operated. However, I do not. It’s no more convenient than a manual operated one, plus, it actually gets clogged up worse than a manual one. The button gets stuck, and either won’t turn on, or won’t turn off. It was a complete waste of money.

Love the battery operated feature
Would RecommendI bought this to spread dry weed & feed on my front lawn. It works great and the adjustable protector is nice so I don't treat the driveway or my neighbor's lawn. The battery operated feature is awesome and it hold plenty of product and throws it a good distance as well.
Batteries exploded
Would Not RecommendI pulled out my spreader for this years application which ultimately led me to changing the batteries. When I took the cover off the batteries were almost unrecognizable. I pried them out in hopes of just cleaning it out and installing new batteries and all would be right but that was not the case. The spreader had barely been used and stored for this season. Very disturbing and concerning.

Pure Garbage! Save your money! Minus 10 Stars!
Absolute worst piece of garbage I have ever purchased. Terrible!!! Even with the hopper slightly filled, the rotor will only turn sporadically. Don't take your finger off the trigger or it will not engage again. Tried several sets of new batteries with the same results. As others have noted, save your money and manually spread fertilizer or seeds to avoid the frustration. Does anyone at Scotts actually test crap like this before offering it for sale?

Never makes it to a second year
We have had two of these. Both worked fine for a year and were stored for winter. The second season it was taken out, new batteries put in, and it would barely work, proceeding to fully die within a few weeks. Love the idea, and we don't have a lot of space to store something bigger, but these are a total waste of money if you have to buy them new every year due to failure of the motor.

I bought this a couple of months ago to seed and fertilize my new back yard lawn. It worked well for a couple of times. It got rained on a little bit. Now it does not work. Dried out battery compartment and Changed batteries. Will not work! I’m trying to get Scott’s to take it back. I’ll get an old school hand crank!

Spray pattern is very good.
Seemed to bog down at times the first time I used it. I checked the batteries and they were all above 1.5 volts, so I have no idea why this was occurring. Also, excessive amounts of product can escape all at once (especially when the hopper is near empty) causing an over application in some areas.
