What Customers Are Saying

The veneer edge trimmer has mixed reviews. While some users found it efficient for trimming edge banding, the majority reported issues. The double-bevel blades made it difficult to get a clean, flush cut, and the blades could become dull quickly and were not easily replaceable. The tool was prone to catching on the wood grain, causing damage or uneven trimming. It required significant skill and care to operate effectively, and many users found it frustrating and ineffective, preferring to use a utility knife or box cutter instead.

Useful for more than Veneer Trimming

Would Recommend

Can be used to trim up small tear-out on plywood edges as well (especially on quick jigs/shop projects/etc.)

Veneer edge trimmer

Would Not Recommend

Does not cut straight edge like it is intended have to apply a lot of pressure and when you do the cut follows the grain of veneer , ruining the veneer.

Exceeded my expectations

Would Recommend

After reading other reviews, I almost passed on it, but decided to take a chance and pick one up this morning along with two rolls of Birch banding. This tool is awesome. I don't understand why ther somewhat negative reviews. I'm thinking the problem was the carpenter not the tool.

Not a very good trimmer

Would Not Recommend

This edge trimmer is not a very good one. I only purchased it because it’s all they had. It’s obviously easy to use but kept gouging the wood and was not very smooth.

Hard to use trimmer

Would Not Recommend

Not worth the money.i have used a rasor knife in the past I think it works a lot better with a little patience.the design is right but the blade does not clean up the ends like I would have expected.but I'm not a carpenter and maybe I don't know how to work it!!,,,,also the blade seems to bend inside the cutter.

This tool works very well if used carefully.

This tool works very well if used carefully. Trimming with the grain of the veneer it makes a clean cut as long as the tool is held firmly against both sides of the work (side pressure and top pressure). If there is some glue "ooze" it will make the trimming harder and that may prevent the trimmer from a flush cut. Trimming perpendicular to the veneer grain will work, but it pays to go slow and it helps to very gently vibrate/wiggle the tool to keep it close and to prevent fracturing the veneer...

Questionable at best

Would Not Recommend

I found a sharp knife actually worked better. I had difficulty keeping the guide in contact with the wood while trimming the veneer. This created unever trims and required more sanding that I anticipated.

Did not work on wood edging

Would Not Recommend

I bought this with the edging and after installing the edging tried to trim it down using this tool. I would not cut across the end grain to trim the long end and it would not trim the side with the grain.

Trim ease

Would Recommend

While you can do the job of trimming the veneer "ironed" on with most any sharp instrument, this handy devil makes it a lot easier, faster and really cleaner. It is supposed to have replaceable blades available but even with the ones installed you really have two blade changes by reversing the blades. I have not yet found the replacement blades but as yet have not had the need for them either. The main ding on this that almost prevented my purchase of it, is the price. Basically $10 for what I w...

Band-it Beware

Would Not Recommend

I've used the Band-it veneer products over the years and they work great. They're edger, however, leaves something to be desired. I've bought two of them over the years and what works best for me is a very sharp utility knife and a steady hand.

To hold it with proper pressure on banding, you run the risk of getting splinters

Smoother than a utility knife

Would Recommend

I picked this up from Lowes, assuming that I wouldn't need it and would wind up returning it - because I would just use a utility knife to trim my edging. I wound up using it with the Band-It Melamine Iron-on Edging, and it was well worth it. It takes some pressure to push it tight against your edge and get a good cut; I had to make several runs over some parts. I didn't have any trouble with it splitting (but melamine doesn't have wood grain like the other reviews had trouble with). Since the...

iNEXPENSIVE BUT VERY UESFULL

Would Recommend

This little plastic edge trimmer is so easy to use, and leaves a professional edge ready for finishing. A light sanding might be necessary to blend in the edge banding. When using this trimmer you must pay attention to the grain of the wood. Going the wrong way will grab the wood and cause the band to splinter. I lost my original and had to make an urgent run to Lowes to get a new one. This is so much better than using a chisel or razor blade: and much safer too. I show it off to all visitors to...

Tears the Veneer

Would Not Recommend

At first I thought this trimmer would be an excellent tool for a very large closet project I was working on... every piece of Birch ply needed a veneer edge. Rather then help it would not trim at all, or it would catch a grain and over trim the long edges... and it totally split the end cuts. I had to carefully cut 1/2 way through the ends and then flip it over and do the other side. If I tried to cut straight across, it would split the veneer and/or chip off the corners. Also, the razor blade i...
