Would Not RecommendWe won’t talk about the lid issue. Used one time and this is now what my walkway and sidewalk look like. This photo is from 3 days ago. I have put hot water on this, scrubbed it with no luck removing. Purchased 2 of these and returning both.
Easiest and Safest way to Open
Would Not RecommendSimply ask somebody at Lowe's Customer Service desk to open it on your way out. The entertainment potential is pretty good with this one.
Love this pet friendly ice melt. Works great and it’s not that expensive compared to others.

Does the job and price is right
Would RecommendI read the reviews and they were so helpful on opening the bucket. I'm hoping that tight fitting lid keeps it moisture free over the summer so it doesn't clump and turn rocket hard. I came back to buy another bucket of it. Very pleased with this product.

HARD TO OPEN!
Would RecommendI read the reviews, saw the advice on how to open, and thought how bad can it be. It was pretty bad. I didn't injure myself in any way, the lid will go back on securely enough for time of usage, but it was a very difficult to get the lid completely off. This is a terrible design. Not a can of paint, so it doesn't need to be super secure and tight. I know that you want to keep moisture out, but there has to be a better way to design the lid for removal by the customer. Still it seems like a great...

It's No Good if You Can't Open It
Would Not RecommendBought 2 of these buckets. Tried and tried to open one following the instructions given in review section. Didn't even begin to budge. Took a claw hammer to it but no luck. Went back again and tried a flat-head screwdriver-- still could not lift lid. Finally, I poked a hole in the lid and took metal shears and cut around the inside edge of the lid. That worked. It only took me a total of 45 minutes to get it open. The product works well. Next time I'll just start with the Sawzall and get it open...
Good Product...Horrible Packaging
Would Not RecommendI recommend that you go somewhere else to purchase a similar product. Reviews have highlighted the horrible packaging for this product, but I decided to take a chance. The manufacturer's how to open instructions should state: (1) Cut a 4x4 post to a length slightly below the height of the tear off tab (~ 10 inches) (2) Tear off plastic tab in side of bucket (3) Using a 42" or longer pry bar and the 4x4 post for leverage, insert the end of the pry bar under the lid. (4) Have a helper hold down ...

Let me help with the lid opening issue
Would RecommendI believe I can help most of you with this lid issue. It took me 20 seconds to open it. There’s a tab on the side of the bucket by the lid, remove it. Take a flat head screw driver and run it along the inside of the lid and go around the entire thing. I had my screw driver facing sideways and I was letting the circle of the lid guide it around. Make sure you’re under the lid. You’ll hear little cracking sounds of it separating and once you do a full rotation it will easily open up. It’s not the...
