It does not work

I put it on my porch steps to melt the ice and two days later the ice was still there.

The lid is a beast but the stuff works great

I am female, 69 and used to doing all the heavy work around the house & yard - and I had a devil of a time getting this lid off. Finally forced a screw driver under the lid - going all around the rim to loosen it. Then with a well placed whack or two with a mallet against the screw driver I got the top off. What a beast! However the product works great. It worked fast and no residue or stains were evident. And the container keeps the crystals dry - if you pound the top back on. I would buy agai...

Great product can you make the lid easier to open?

I love this, it works pretty well, stays spreadable until other pet safe salts that turn to bricks. I gave it a three ONLY because I couldn't open the darn lid!

Not thrilled

There are several issues with clumping. The second time I opened the bucket I found a solid clump of “salt” that I was unsuccessful in declumping. This caused me to go through it much more rapidly than I should have. That said it works well.

Would be 5 Stars if Lid were Better!

As with all others, we had a heck of a time getting the lid off. My 14 year old read the reviews after my husband and I both struggled and couldn't remove the lid. She was able to kneel on the bucket and then pry it open after a short struggle. Used a hammer to assist. Salt worked GREAT on our walkway and steps. Melted the snow and kept it dry even as much more came down during the recent blizzard. I want to buy it again but dread the struggle to get the lid off!

lid design is trash

Product works great, but lid is absolute trash. As others have mentioned, kneeling on middle of lid and pulling up helps to get it off.

Awful. Damaged stairs and concrete

Left full oil/corrosion stains on both stairs and concrete on my walkway and city sidewalk.

How To Get Lid Off

Put on some gloves, Pull the tab off, Put knee on center of lid and apply pressure, Pull back with all your might right under lip where tab was pulled off. You'll get that sucker open!

Compact size, self-contained, transportable.

Secure seal on bucket, was difficult to get the lid off at first but nothing a screwdriver couldn't fix. Small and portable with a scoop included makes it an all in one solution.

Excellent value. I will buy this again and again

This is a huge bucket of product. I purchased one for home and one for my apt. I put some into a pour bottle to make it easier to get to. I love it!

Lid sucks, tip in review

I just came to the reviews to figure out how to open this thing. Someone said kneel on the center; I stood on it, all 300 pounds of me, and it opened after that! It came with a scoop - I was not expecting that... As soon as I put it down the ice started cracking and it's 13 degrees here today.
