What Customers Are Saying

The Insect Killer and LED light is an effective product at attracting and eliminating a variety of flying insects, including mosquitoes, moths, and gnats. The LED light provides good illumination and can be used independently or in conjunction with the bug zapping function. While some customers found the bug zapping feature less effective against certain insects, the majority of reviews are positive, with customers reporting significantly fewer bugs around their homes after using the product.

nice light, don't know how many bugs zapped though

Would Recommend

Placed this light in the outdoor fan over my patio dining table. Living in Texas, Mosquitos in particular are a nuisance about 9 months out of the year. After using the zapper function for 4 nights in a row (during mosquito season), I took the light down and removed the cover to the zapper. Sadly, I found only 1 mosquito. So, I don't know if it doesn't work well, or if the open cage design just doesn't hold the carcasses well.

Nice idea

Would Recommend

I like the idea behind this light bulb zapper but not sure about the reality of how it works. It fits a standard light socket so no problem with the install. I left it on for approximately 2 hours, when I can back there were no dead bugs on the ground nor did I hear any get zapped. Overall quality and construction are good just not sure it has enough voltage to actually zap the bugs.

Like the 9-Watt Electric Bug Zapper

Would Recommend

I was so nice and convenient to easily screw the Zapper into a light switch. I believe it works very well for small jobs of managing bugs, e.g. screened in back or front porch/deck out even camping in spring or fall. If you want big, get a big zapper. Overall, it works for my intended purposes.

Nice but big

This bug zapper gives out a lot of light. It functions as advertised and illuminates my 25 X 8 ft. patio. There is a mode for zapper only or zapper + light, selectable by flipping the switch off and on 1 or 2 times. Be aware, however, that it is large. If you are planning to install it in a fixture, you may want to measure first. I have it in a simple 4 X 4 in. carriage light fixture. The diameter fits, but just barely. And the bulb protrudes below the fixture. Also, in order to let bugs...

Great Product!

Would Recommend

This is a great product for the back porch or anywhere you want to hang outside and not be annoyed with mosquitos or gnats flying around. It just plugs into a regular light fixture and works once you turn it on. I like that the bug zapper part does not make noise, so you hardly know that it is there. It emits a nice blue glow. The light itself is great and LED so should last a long time. You can turn off the outside plastic and there is a small brush included for cleaning off the bug guts that a...

Zapper stopped working

Would Not Recommend

It thought it was a well thought out product. Light and insect zapper in one. Comes with a cleaning brush that is kept hidden inside the zapper. Unfortunately the zapper stopped working after 5 days of nightly use.

So cool

Would Recommend

I don’t know about you, but with 3 kids they are ALWAYS leaving the door open. That means, bugs are constantly coming inside. I put this bug zapper in our living room to help eliminate those pesky mosquitoes that sneak in. The bulb fits perfectly and gives off a soft light. It’s gone a great job helping to keep the bugs that sneak inside under control.

Works well and easy to use

Would Recommend

Very easy to use. The 9-watt Electric Bug Zapper LED Light Bulb by Black Flag is pretty cool. It can be used indoors or outdoors as seen in the photos. You’ll notice that the bulb is larger than some bulbs. I recently brought the bulb indoors as I heard a mosquito flying near my head. Guess what? No more mosquitos inside. This bulb screws into a standard light socket, (not a smaller size, like a candelabra). You can use the light multiple ways, you can have the zapper stay active and not h...

Find out more next year

Unfortunately, I think I installed this a little too late in the season to really see results. I live in New York and have had terrible mosquitoes All Summer Long and was really excited to give this a try. I remove the bulb from my porch light and installed this one by simply screwing it in. The bulb has a couple of different settings- flip your switch up once and the light and you've Evolve come on, turn it off and back on one more time and just the UV bulb stays on. The bull comes with a littl...

Unsure

I was interested in this product being convenient by using a standard A19 bulb socket and integrated with a regular white light. In the first picture you can see this bulb is significantly larger than a regular bulb and may impact where you want to use it. In my case it just barely fit. I chose a light over my garage. You can see in the subsequent pictures, there are lots of bugs just hanging around. This is where I struggle with this bug killing bulb - it really didn't kill any. I tried with th...

I live in the country. I've always had a problem keeping knats and other bugs from getting in my house. Since I installed my new bug zapper light bulb. Problem solved.

No bugs

I have 2 lights on my front porch and I replaced 1 light with the new bulb. I see no bugs flying around the new bulb where I still see bugs flying around my old one. Can't wait to buy another

Great idea but lacks on size due to light unit

Would Recommend

While the idea is great, get the bugs to fly to the light, its just a light, come on bugs enjoy the light and zap pow, adios bugs. But the light the bulb was installed in on the back porch is enclosed just to the point where the zapper is covered with glass and the led portion sticks out beneath it. The light is adequate, nice led feel and bright enough for a back patio, probably would be great if you ran a few more of these in the mid summer days along a fence line.

It works, kind of.

So this nifty little bulb zapper promises the convenience and style of a normal light bulb with the features of a bug zapper. On paper, it's awesome. It does look good, and seems rigid. However, the plastic coverings that make it look so nice also prevent many of its would be victims from finding the zapper bits. As a result, you end up with a light bulb that draws more electricity than a normal LED that really doesn't do a heck of a lot else. Even when a bug figures out how to get to the zappe...

Innovative Way to Control Annoying Bugs

Would Recommend

The Black Flag Bug Zapper LED Light is an innovative product. I like the idea of zapping annoying mosquitos and other types of bugs on my patio, but really didn't want a big and expensive bug zapping device. Since I already have a free standing light fixture on my patio this fit the bill very nicely. Installation is no more than screwing in a light bulb and it only uses 9 watts of power. In testing the Bug Zapper Bulb, it attracted, killed, and trapped a respectable amount of mosquitos. (Becaus...

Great idea with lackluster results

When I saw this bug zapping LED bulb I was THRILLED! Safe for use indoor or out. I have one kid with a bug phobia & thought this was a great idea & could double as a night light. It was inside one night & didn't get anything. We've had it in the garage for a couple of weeks now & think it's zapped 3 of the DOZENS of bugs that has landed on it. Fyi there's a place to empty out the bugs that get zapped. Ewwww. It gets some of the critters but not too powerful from my experience. Basically ...

Great depending on the application

Would Recommend

This bulb is effective for specific uses. First of all, the lighting is great for a LED bulb and even though the orientation is primarily downwards, you get a good radius of light. The zapper portion had a light UV glow and was not overpowering of the normal light. I really liked the feature of the option to select just zapper mode by quickly on-off switching two times. Before enjoying an evening on the patio, I would put the zapper-only mode on for a few hours and it seemed that the there were ...

This light/zapper is awesome. I put it in the first day. The light is very bright and the zapper works great. When you flick the switch twice it just goes to zapper and that is a little purple light and it's beautiful plus it works wonderful. I love to sit outside at night and so we have problems with a lot of bugs we don't now it takes care of insects even keeps the baths away I like that I guess because they were eating the bugs but it is a wonderful wonderful light. I like it so much I bou...
