Flexibility I Needed

I was staining replacement boards for a bench and I liked the pad's flexibility to wrap around the sides of the boards. Also it held a sufficient amount of stain to do the job.

Works really well!

Used this pad applicator to apply finish to pickets on a deck railing. Drastically cut the time required compared to a brush application.

600 ballusters later.....

Did the job for what we needed to do. Only three stars because the pads don't last very long and they could be about a quarter inch longer so you could get in the corners around the balusters better. Tougher and longer pads would be better. Also, had to buy 5 complete products since the replacement pads were not available. Later, found Menards carries replacement pads for three bucks. Lowe's should add the replacement pads to their inventory. Bottom line, they worked for what we needed but there...

Maybe great for a very small job, but not a for a larger job. Pad came apart very early in the job.

Shocked with how well this works

So much better than I expected. It’s pricy compared to a foam throwaway brush but I wanted to give it a shot. I’ll use these again for larger pieces like tables or dresser tops.

Terrible for stain

Tried it, got a little stain on the pad but when I tried to apply it the stain just squirted and ran everywhere....this was after squeezing all the excess stain from the pad that I could. Will not use this product for stain again, ever.

Works well

A wonderful tool it made quick job on the wooded spindles.since it was able to bend in middle able to do 2 sides of spindle at once.

There's not pressure in the middle

The only place it applies stain is where there is pressure, which is 1/4 inches by the 2 handle grips. Otherwise, it's a glorified sponge attached to duct tape, and when it gets wet (which it will in stain) the whole thing falls apart. Get a nice stain brush and save yourself the headache.

This little thing made it possible to stain banisters at the speed of light... OK, not really, but way faster than brushes...

Must have product to stain a deck.

This is a must have for deck stain.

Poor tool

After using the stain applicator the pad fell off and I could not get it to reattach. The instructions did not show or describe how to reattach it either. I also looked on the Internet to find a tutorial on the subject. I would not recommend this pad to anyone.

This thing ROCKED!

We just finished our deck and I stained well over 100 balusters and used only 1 pad!! It worked perfectly, spreading out just enough stain on all of them and super easy to use. I also was able to use them on any edge for the deck with no issues! I was worried reading the reviews and bought extra just in case, but was very happy with the purchase that I made and would use them again!

Worthless

Purchased to apply deck seal to pickets, but the pad fell off holder after completing 8 pickets out of 200. Tried to reattach multiple times before just going back to the old fashioned paint brush. Poorly designed and worthless once soaked with sealer. Will be returning for refund along with other Woodmates stain applicator for the planks that gets 1 star reviews too.

Good Idea But . . .

It's a good idea, but it didn't last 30 minutes before the pad fell apart and was unusable. There is no way to replace the pad.

Saved some time

I really like the design and the way it covered. I did not like the how the backing came off the sponge. When it does that, it really starts to make a mess! I bought 2. One lasted almost the entire job and the other one did it immediately. Lowes does not offer a refill which is not good!!!! Great concept!
