The saw worked flawlessly for over 6 hours of cutting and trimming. Strong motor, and long life battery.

Unreliable

I purchased my first 80 volt chainsaw back in 2015, the chainsaw worked great, until one day the battery decided it did not want to recharge. There was a recall on the original chainsaw and after some going round and round with the warranty dept I was able to return the recalled saw and purchased another one. Overall a great chainsaw.

Chainsaw is awesome, but battery does not stay charged long. I expected that an eighty volt battery would last longer, but it does not. Kobalt customer care is working to resolve the issue.

My 3rd 80V piece, Kobalt for the hat trick!

No having to mix gas/oil, no pull start; grab the battery and get to work. This is my 3rd 80V Kobalt purchase. I also have the string trimmer and the leaf blower. I love each of them and now I have 3 batteries that I can rotate out to accomplish any task without any worry of having to wait for a battery to charge. The string trimmer came with a trickle charger and the others came with a quick charger which takes about 15 min.

Ease of use..

A perfect chain saw for home owner.. Quiet and very efficient.. no oil and gas mix that goes stale.. Was much better than expected.. I highly recommend this 18” saw..

Chain kept popping off

The saw did what I needed to; however, few minutes into sawing the chain popped off. After two more times of the chain popping off I decided that I had cut enough limbs away from the roof of workshop. Haven't used the saw since, not sure if it was saw dust getting in the mechanics and causing the chain to pop off or if it was something I was doing. I made sure the chain had tension before running between each attempt as well.

This machine is a lifesaver and timesaver.

Let me begin first off by saying that two years ago, I purchased a Kobalt 80 volt trimmer and absolutely fell in love with the machine. Now I didn't know much about cutting down trees, but watching some other guys out there posting videos with this Kobalt Chainsaw I had to try it and it did not disappoint. Uses the same Kobalt 80 volt battery as my trimmer and I love it. Quieter and cleaner than a gas chainsaw.

Great Medium Job Chainsaw

This chainsaw is easy to operate and maintain. After a full year of use, it has tackled an assortment of jobs varying from storm damage clean up to brush clearing. The battery gives a charge as advertised. It has plenty of cutting power. I like not having to store fuel -OR- worry with fussy cranking/idling.

Great power with ease of use

Great power. Performs at least as well if not better than the Stihl I’ve had for 8 years. Very easy to use and start.

Charger blew up first time

so I bought this, got it delivered and opened it up. Got charger out and plugged it in. Put battery on charger and within 5 minutes, the charger wire burned up and started smoking inside the charger. So now I have a battery that only has one bar charged and a saw that can't be tested out on a full charge due to the charger burning up. Lowes app I bought it through is giving me an error message when I go into my order for it to see what options there are to get a new charger. So I can't even...

Cordless Chainsaw Works Well

With only using the chainsaw once, the chainsaw had much better power than I expected. It did a good job on the small job cutting up medium size wood. A negative is that the chainsaw was fairly heavy with the large battery and battery life is short, but having a spare battery is a plus. The batteries do charge within 30 minutes and the batteries are interchangeable with other cordless kobalt products.

Chainsaw came with a missing chain tensioner nut, and no chain tensioner adjustment tool.
