What Customers Are Saying
The Kobalt 80V cordless chainsaw is a capable tool for homeowner use, with customers praising its power, battery life, and ease of use compared to gas-powered models. The saw effectively handles medium-sized trees and branches, with the battery lasting 20-45 minutes depending on the wood thickness. Users appreciate the lack of fumes, noise, and pull-starting associated with gas saws. However, the saw may struggle with very thick or dense wood, and the chain can sometimes come off during aggressive cutting in brush or with smaller branches.

Would Not RecommendReceived saw damaged! Returned, and have been told 3 times it has been delivered. After having refused the package from FedEx . Spoke with Lowe's customer support who assured me it would be removed from my debit card. We will see🤞

Quite please overall
Would RecommendThe saw works great. I have a 6.0 Ah battery so it lasts a while. Definitely with getting a higher Ah battery if you have a lot of cutting to do. I am very pleased with the saw. I'm giving it 4 stars because the one major drawback is that it leaks a lot of bar/chain oil and creates a pretty big mess.

Cut through 4 one-foot diameter fruit tree trunks
Would RecommendCut through 4 one-foot diameter fruit tree trunks with ease. I can’t wait to get a bunch of other larger pesky trees in my back yard cleared. I wear chainsaw chaps and double handed chainsaw gloves as well to play it safe.

Good product!
Would RecommendI didn't like the delivery by FedEx who left my package by the road about 3/10 of a mile from my house!

Can’t get out of it’s own way
Would Not RecommendThe programming of the overload detector is faulty or they produced an item that is too powerful for the electronics that run it. Load detector trips after 3-4 seconds under its own cutting weight. Meaning you start the cut without any pressure , just let the weight of the saw do the work. If you apply any pressure into the cut it trips immediately. If you actively hold the saw up, trying to keep weight off it while cutting, you might get through a full cut. This was all on 7”-8” thick...

Broke after 5 seconds of use
Would Not RecommendI was cutting about a 1-in limb when the chain popped off 5 seconds after I started using it. Despite my many attempts to put it back on, it would not stay on and I ended up returning it. Do not recommend.
Hello Mike. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the 80V chainsaw and that i...

Easy to start, does a great job.
Would RecommendMy biggest complaint about operating the gas chainsaw I have is that it is very difficult to get it started. I get worn out and my arm gets sore just pulling the cord repeatedly to get it started. That's no way to begin a job of sawing down trees and cutting up logs. This 80 volt Kobalt battery operated chainsaw is the perfect solution. Turn it on, depress the lockout, pull the trigger and go to work. It is lightweight, well balanced, and has great built-in safety features. I am glad I got th...

short battery life
Would Not RecommendI purchased in December of 2021 and have less than 4hrs use and the battery will not charge. My use of the chainsaw was very intermediate and the battery was refreshed after each use. I recently needed to do a little cleanup after hurricane Helene came through SC. The saw made about 5 cuts through an 8" tree before needing a recharge. When the battery was placed on charge it finished surprisingly quick and only about 60% charge. Needless to say this charge gave a significantly fewer cuts. ...

7 Years of use
Would Recommend7 years of Use later and I am no longer skeptical of battery chainsaws. It cuts through 8-10" locusts which is tough wood and cherry fine. Main Use is clean up on our 6 acre mini farm so I am not pounding through cords of wood but it gets the job done. Battery life is probably 30 minutes of hard cutting but frankly, I am glad to take a break for 20 minutes if needed to recharge. I keep 3 batteries in rotation so I can keep going.
Reliable with great customer service.
Would RecommendI bought the chainsaw and am alternating my lower amp kobalt trimmer batter and by the time one runs out the other is charged. For continual cutting you might want a higher amp battery which kobalt recommends. I have the hedge trimmer and pruning saw both in 40v. I love Kobalt including their amaller tools.

Doesn't Come with Tip Guard
Would Not RecommendAll chainsaws I've purchased in the past have included guard for the tip. Without the tip guard, the chain will come off almost immediately when coming into contact with resistance. I had to remove the tip guard from my old chainsaw and attach it to this one. In general, even with the chain properly tensioned, the chain slips off the bar more frequently than expected. The Chainsaw works well other than that, but I probably wouldn't purchase it if I had to do it over again.
