What Customers Are Saying
The product is a high-performing and versatile woodworking drill bit that can quickly and cleanly drill holes through various types of wood, including hardwoods and old, rough-cut lumber. Many customers praised its sharp, aggressive cutting ability, which allows it to "chew through" the material with minimal effort. However, some caution that its aggressive nature requires careful control, as it can pull the drill forward and potentially cause issues if used improperly or in certain applications. A small number of users also reported that the bit dulled or burned up more quickly than expected, especially when used on very hard woods. Overall, the consensus is that the drill bit is an excellent choice for tasks like boring holes for electrical wiring, installing landscape timbers, and creating pilot holes for other projects, though users should take care when operating it.

Crap
Would Not RecommendBought one of these for a project it kept getting stuck. Had to change out to regular spade bit..that worked like a charm. It wasn't the drill either I have a heavy duty Makita corded drill so it wasn't a power issue...the bit I got SUCKED will be taking back today....
Great bit
Would RecommendThis is a great drill bit it will last a while. If you hit a nail or soft metal the bit is fried. I agree with the rest of the reviews. You need a good drill to handle this bit. May sure if you use a standard cordless drill you put it on low speed. It will stall the drill out.
works good
Would Recommendfirst one I bought broke returned for another it works great, I am careful not to put in bind. have drilled 120 1 inch holes. starts clean and is fast

Do not buy
Would Not RecommendI went to use the drill bits for the second time today, first time using the 1 1/4 bit and I broke the shank on the third 2x4 I attempted to drill through. Unless they go back to 3/8 shank they are not worth spending your money on.

Sucks
Would Not RecommendI bought this maybe 2 days ago the end that goes in the drill is already stripped out and the thing barely gose through wood any more this bit sucks save your money
From irwin.com
The problem is the very tip of the bit. Used on kiln-dried fir, it draws the bit so tightly to the workpiece that the cutting blades bog down almost immediately once cutting starts. Workpiece well-secured, drill set to appropriate speed/power.. makes no difference. Might be suitable for drilling soft wood, but I don't plan to ever try.
One Star Beacuse I Can't Give Zero
Would Not RecommendThis bit is completely useless on a drill press. The problem is actually the little small tip in the center of the bit. It grabs the wood and draws it upward on a press. And I'm not talking balsa, I need to put a lot of holes in a 2" x 8" x 54" piece of pine - even with that much weight, it will draw the wood up. And same time the new weight is drawing the drill head down so without fail the wood is snatched up at an angle and the drill head is pulled down. So unless you build a jig for eve...

Ok i guess
Would RecommendThe bit seems to be getting a bit dull after mild use. It still cuts through the wood but does not penetrate the very last 1/8" or so after the lead bit stops predrilling.
Not for most drills
Would Not RecommendUseless if you don't have an exceptionally powerful drill. Once the screw portion was in and the large section of the bit hit the wood, the drill stopped. Returning it and going back to basic drill bits.
Fastest ever!
Would RecommendThis bit is amazing! Drills holes nearly 3 times as fast as my next best bit. I will definitely be buying more of these!

A Faster Way to Drill Wood
Would RecommendThese Tri-Flute bits are available in various sizes and are far quicker than a spade bit for drilling wood. The higher cost will be quickly recovered in the time you will save. You will need a 1/2" drill to drive these bits. Otherwise the drill is likely to get stuck and possibly kick back.

Nicely Done
Would RecommendUsed this bit through a treated four by four because I didn't trust a spade bit to track true. Does very well but can get bogged down if you don't back it out often enough to clean out the leavings. Got it caught several times but that was my fault. Cuts clean and drives true. Much better than a spade bit.

Fastest Bit EVER!!!
Would RecommendWow does this bit fly through some wood. I used a Dewalt impact driver and the bit was going through 4x4 posts in 7 to 8 seconds. Crazy fast!!! I know I've drilled 30 to 40 holes so far and it has not slowed down. It really slings some wood shavings.
