Would Not RecommendSaddle is tight on modern, narrow 2xs, but is too narrow for older dimensional lumber. Won't even accommodate 1-5/8"; have to waste time cutting the lumber, which is a hassle on old work.

An excellent idea
Would RecommendI had previously only used boxes with a bar for installation of a fan box. This product straddles the ceiling beam offering a strong solution. I would use the same box for another install.
