What Customers Are Saying
The saddle box is made of durable plastic and provides a secure and stable mounting for ceiling fans and light fixtures. It is easy to install and offers ample space for wiring and connections. While it generally fits well on modern joists, some customers noted it may be too narrow for older, thicker lumber. Ceiling fan box
Would RecommendAccidentally got This box and found it surprisingly strong. The placement over a 2x4 is extremely stable. Can be a problem if placement desired is not exactly over a 2x4

Twice as much than the competition.
Would Not RecommendThe box works fine for the application but the price stinks. I had to argue with costumer service to match the price and she refused because the picture looked slightly different that the actual product. Luckily the great guy at the register agree with me and matched the price.

Old Work - Box too narrow
Would RecommendAs with a couple other reviews, I purchased this for 'old work' and found the joist just a bit too wide. Not sure if the other brand is wider, but it would be good for RACO to note this on the box since it seems to be a fairly common issue. The box itself, the instructions, and design over seem very good, but I just can't get it over my joist to sit adjacent to the wood.
Ceiling fan mounting box
Would RecommendThis is the ideal box to use when hanging a ceiling fan. It provides the assurance that the fan will not fall because the rafter holds the weight. The screws that come with it are an added advantage for a convenient purchase.
I'm elated
Would RecommendThis product has successfully kept five whirring fan blades from descending upon us in a torrential frenzy while we sleep peacefully in the bed below.

Box on Joist Installation
Would RecommendThis box is well made and has the screws needed for a good, solid mounting. CAUTION: If you have an old,old house with REAL 2x6(8) joists, this box will NOT fit over the old (2) sized lumber, only the 1 5/8" lumber.

perfect for problematic wall stud location
Would RecommendI used these when I replaced light fixtures in two bathrooms. Unfortunately, the stud location made centering the fixtures over the sinks problematic. Thankfully, this junction box straddles the stud, and I was able to center my fixtures perfectly.

Solves the problem
Would RecommendThe ceiling electric box isn't only for ceiling fans. For those DIYers this is the perfect box to use for light fixtures on a wall when your wall stud has unfortunately ended up in the same location your are wanting to put a light fixture up and would have used a electrical light box. It is actually a tighter fit. So next time a stud is in the center of your lighting project simply use the ceiling electrical box.

Buy the Carlon I bought this and returned.
Would Not RecommendThere are no instructions for installation even on the web site for this product. You will notice that there are no screws for this model in the photo. There are some in the box but not the ones you need to hang the mounting bracket for the fan. However, if you look at the carlon you will notice that it does have screws for mounting which is kind of important.
