Ratings & Reviews for DuroMax HX 210cc Electric Start Camping and RV Ready 5500 Starting / 4500 Running Watt Gas and Propane Dual fuel Portable Generator

Looking for reliable? Look elsewhere!

This product has been a headache one issue after another. I wanted dual fuel knowing I was going to run propane as much as possible. 1st 3 or 4 times I used it it was awesome, but then became nearly impossible to start, sputtered back fired smoked etc. I would try to start after a few tries I would give up come back a bit later sometimes it would start often it wouldn't. Known issue of spark plug changed it out and ran great 3 or 4 times then same issue. Was told try running gasoline. If I would...

Duramax outlives all generators

This is my second duramax as I try to have several on hand because it’s my main electric source unfortunately. The first one has near 3500 hours and going strong. I’ve burnt out about 8 generators. Most fail for one reason or another and it happens quickly reguardless of maintenance schedule. Most other brands fail after 500-1000 heavy use hours. So far duramax beats them all. I believe my new duramax will continue that trend of long life. Hope so as I rely on generators and they are expensi...

5500 Duromax

Bought the unit in January and got it from factory Pure we lost power due to the snow and it ran great for five hours running the heat inside the house and the refrigerator. Great company to deal with.

4 years and needed Tech Support

After you have had something a while and need help with a repair that is the true test of the company. I test my XP13000HX each month. I run only propane so the maintenance is easier. I went out this month to start it up and the Start button was non responsive. I called support and connected with Anthony. He patiently walked me through the process and we checked several things to find the CO sensor needs to be replaced. I am relieved to know the unit is in relatively good shape and that is...

USA is always better made.

It’s a fair value. Not the highest of quality, but considering not made is the USA-fair.

XP5500HX out of box

I have not run the generator yet, but I have heard there may be issues with it staying running... I hope Duromax has simple and effective fixes for this potential problem.

Dual fuel. pay attn to valve settings

Initial crank on propane good. 120/240v outlet not connect; I can find LR/NEMA terminals for house.

Started right up!

Used for the first time last night. Easy start up. Put oil, gas, started up! It powered everything we needed it to…about 5 appliances.

The best so far

I have had four generators before this one and none had the features and ran as well as this one has.

Perfect for our condo back-up power

Easy assembly. Good instructions and cautions. Started first turnover. Ran it for 3 hours as a whole house generator. Powers the fridge, furnace, lights, computers etc. Nice footprint and safety devices.

Easy Assembly

Bought two XP5500HX for myself and my neighbor. We put them both together in about an hour. No issues and all the parts were there. Started up at first attempt. Ran good on test runs. We are now both ready for any power outages or hurricanes down the road.

Lowe's is the best to deal with.
