Works great, will get hot with continued heavy drilling, must drill some and give it time to cool so you don't burn up drill

Brand New Out of the box this drill did not work!!

I opened the box, plugged it in and nothing. I whacked it with the heel of my hand and it went "RRR" for a half a second. Obviously an electrical problem. Obviously no quality control. There went an hour car ride to the store and and back as well as my building plans for the day. Dewalt, I am disappointed. I have a few Dewalt tools, will I get any more? It's doubtful at this point.

Dewalt, the newest toy maker!

My cordless Dewalt = 10 years and still going. New corded Dewalt = 10 minutes. Who puts a chuck on a threaded shaft? What is this a toy? Stay away from Dewalt!

Great Drill

I purchased the Dewalt 1/2" Drill to replace a Milwaukee Drill that was over 20 years old. The Dewalt Drill is a much better Drill and has variable speed which is great.

Too fast, not enough torque

I bought this drill for heavy duty purposes where battery drills neither have the torque or run-time needed. Situations like drilling many holes in steel plate greater than 1/4" and using large 24" long wood augers, etc. I made this choice as it was the highest AMP 1/2" drill at my local Lowes, and it had a metal gearbox instead of plastic, which is usually a sign of increased capability. I'm used to drills in this class having a max speed of ±500 RPM. This drill has a max speed of 1,200 RPM whi...

It is indeed powerful... I have been working rechargeable screwdrivers and $19.99 drill sets for so long that I forgot what real power felt like...

Great Drill

I bought it for mixing mortar to do a big tile job. This thing can mix a whole 5 gal bucket of mortar like it was stirring pudding. The drill never got too hot while mixing. Be warned, it has a lot of torque and the drill can spin out of your hands if you aren't ready. It is a bit bulky, but the uses make up for it. It can be used on light duty jobs like screwing into wood or drywall , but you need to really feather the trigger. Very happy with this drill!

Well Worth a Few Dollars More

This tool is well worth the few extra dollars you pay over the 8 amp models. I installed shutters on our brick house. Of course, this meant drilling holes in mortar or brick. It drilled 156 holes flawlessly. In my opinion, this tool paid for itself in just this one single project. I'm expecting many more years of service out of it. Would definitely recommend this heavy duty unit.
