Oak, not so good
Would RecommendI love this planner, but even with brand news blades, Oak does not plane well! All other woods, Cedar, pine, mahogony, CVG Fir, hard maple, etc., does great.

100% for hobbyist jobd
Would RecommendPlaner has been a work horse for what I'm doing. I've been making wooden signs with imbedded resin and this planer is doing a fantastic job. I have ordered an additional set of blades for it but I don't plan on using them for a while. Just for an emergency. This was my first dewalt product and I am loving it. I would recommend this tool for anyone who doesn't need to plan full sheets of plywood. If you are interested on an online review. I will have one in the next coming month at Adams...

Zero snipes
Would RecommendI was choosing between Craftsman and this Dewalt unit for my DIY garage workshop. Initially i was inclinied toward Craftsman due to cheaper price. However, after i saw lots of positive reviews regarding "no snipes" on Dewalt, i forced my self to spend a bit more. The unit comes fully assembled and all you need is to attach the blower cover and the shaft handle. And it's ready to go! The locking mechanism seems plays a great deal fighting with snipes. If left unlocked - you can feel it takes mor...

Outstanding piece of equipment
I have been fortunate to Try Before You Buy. The planer was lent to me by a professional contractor and was 6 years used at the time. Easy to use very little snipe if any. Would planed was white cedar and pine 1x8x1 rough cut boards. Blades were extremely easy to flip or change. I highly recommend this model for the serious DYI gal or guy.

A great buy
Would RecommendA great addition to my tool collection. It has helped move my work to the next level. I have built a long table for it so I can do longer planks without putting two much stress on the enter and exit ramps, or my arms. It's great for a hobbyist or beginner. I did burn it out fairly shortly after I bought it, but I blame myself for putting too much stress on it. But it was an easy, inexpensive fix and since then, using it with care, I have not had another problem.

Works great
Would RecommendI just bought this planer and ran over 150 feet of wood thru it in less than 2 hours. Worked great, did not over heat, very nice smooth finish. I owned a Wen planner and the Dewalt puts it to shame. I did not have it hooked up to a vacuum system, just blow it out after every board. Great product
