Not for the most heavy duty jobs, this planer is perfect for the woodworking hobbyist.

I'm a weekend wood worker and this planner is great for smoothing out the cupped or warped wood.

Dewalt DW734 12-1/2" Planer

Excellent planer for an intermediate/advanced woodworker with limited space. This was a birthday gift after using the same model to do a hickory kitchen cabinet, a full walnut cabinet master bath and a cherry china display cabinet for my bride. Next is a built in bookcase to match the china display cabinet. 12-1/2" works well for cabinet making as long as the rough lumber fits. The hickory kitchen cabinet consumed a set of blades due to the hardness of the material, even with taking ~1/64th"...

Amazing!!

I absolutely love this planer! I am a beginner and this planer is amazing! My husband purchased it for me after my first one was broken and I don’t think he could have made a better choice. Operation is smooth, there is no snipe at the end of the boards! Set up and use is a breeze...I 100% recommend this planer!

DW734 Planer

I debated between buying this planer and the DW735X planer. I choose this planer due to the preponderance of positive reviews, the type of work I do, and the price. The tempting thing about the DW735X was the impeller assisted chip extraction. I can live without the enhanced chip extraction...but I do think it would have been nice. Otherwise I am quite happy with this planer. For the money I believe it is a good choice and thus far has performed well for me...

It's worth the price

I have fixed hardwood basketball flooring for Fresno State with this device. 6" min. Length works well nothing smaller. Good product.

Smooth Cuts

The only thing I am not to keen on is the adjustment height release. Other than that it is an exceptional piece of equipment. The three knife cutter head makes for smooth cuts.

Excellent Planer

I bought this based on reviews and it has lived up to its reputation. It is a great planer. It leaves the surface smooth and is easy to use. I have planed different size boards including 2x6x8 fir to make a peninsula counter top. It definitely needs to be connected to a dust collector as it produces a lot of wood chips.

Great planer!

I’m a begginer woodworker and I’ve been looking for a planer for quite some time, but the prices are thru the roof. I found this one at $399, which is a little more than other brands (with a lot less RPMs and two blades); this one has three blades and a lot of power. It can handle anything! However, I take my time and just remove a small fraction of material, it takes a few more passes, but it is totally worthy, NO SNIPE! I just surfaced a bunch of raw Hard Maple boards with no issues nor any sn...

Being able to quickly adjust and not have the fence not straight is awesome

Works as advertised

My father-in-law and I picked this up to use for some rough cut walnut. It did a terrific job and we have been pleased with the work it produces.

Beast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used this planer for hard woods and soft woods. The performance is excellent, and personally, I have not had any issues with planer snipe. I'd recommend it to anyone who is just getting into Woodworking or for your more advanced hobbyists.

Ease of Adjustment and Versatility

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used my planer for about a year now in my woodworking shop and absolutely love it! It's extremely easy to make fine adjustment with the turn style knobs at the top. The lock in feature is nice as well to make sure you keep that adjustment so it doesn't vibrate out while it planes.

Tough tool and smooth results!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this specifically to plane some rough sawn osage orange (bois d'arc) that was cut down at my sister's cabin in east Texas. This planer ripped through nearly 100 linear feet of hard wood AND left a smooth consistent surface!

worst planer ever

I’ve had this planer for a few years and have used it only a handful of times. It will not plane a 1/32 off a piece of pine 1x6 without the motor quitting. Dont waste your money.

Great results

I had received this planer as a gift from a friend. After sitting idle for a year I broke it out to sample on 3 different wood types in 3 different dimensions. The wood had cupping and warping but after repeated passes to get the desired size the wood turned out beautifully! Flat...true...and smooth.
