Great planner

This is a great planner. Minor setup out of the box that took less the 30 minutes. Great finished surface with NO snipe at all.

Easy to setup and operate.

I design and build furniture as a hobby. When working with of various thicknesses I used my table saw and belt sander. With this new piece of equipment to my shop life is so much easier and less frustrating. This purchase was well worth the money. Works as anticipated and leaves a smooth finish.

Working well so far

I didn’t realize what I was missing out on before I bought this planer. It does a great job on 2x4’s up to 2x10’s. But, either I did something wrong or this planer is not good for thicker material. I kept trying to run a 4x4 through it but the board kept getting stuck, leaving marks and divots. Overall though, it’s worth it. I’d buy it again for sure.

dewalt wood eater

I’m a DIY guy and not a professional wood worker. This planer suits my needs perfectly. I did get two, the first had a bad part. Probably a bearing. Lowes was great, switched it out with another. I guess anyone can have a bad part once in a while. I have ran several passes through the second one and works great. I’m planing soft woods, mostly cedar and fir, douglas and white. Awesome Machine!

I inherited a lot of rough sawn white oak and need to purchase a planer to assist with making the lumber useable. This machine made easy work of the white oak, it features very fine tuned adjustments and I noticed very little snipe on the ends of the boards. Only issue so far is that the discharge extension can't be folded for storage with the dust collection fitting attached.

It was easy to set up and the first boards through exceeded my expectations.

makes most or any wood look great and easy to work. A good investment to a begginer or professional wood worker.

I’ve inly run a few pieces through the DeWalt 734. Setup is simple, results were excellent w/ only light snipe. It will take me a little time to get the hang of the thickness gauge.

Dewalt

Works really good, but had to take shaving guard off because it kept clogging up.

Replaced older version

Bought this as a replacement for an older two blade 121/2” DEWALT this one is a three blade and works great from setup to a pile of saw dust was about 15 minutes

Not New?

Bought this Planer after I returned a Wen. Would not plane when fed on left side of planer. Had to pull board out, and had marks from outfeed roller. (Dull Blade?) Also had very small chip in blade. I think it may have been used.

Good buy

No problems so far but I don’t use it on a regular basis. I would have to say if you need a planer to make your living I would go with a commercial brand but as for a hobby it’s does the job.

Great Tool

This is my first benchtop planer so I don't have much to compare to. Debated to the point of mental exhaustion about whether to get this or the 735x (or even to save money with a cheaper brand). As I only need it for diy and hobby level projects that I make from rough cut boards I finally decided that I wasn't going to spend the extra money on the 735 but have had great experience with everything else dewalt in my tool collection so I got this and so far I think I made the right decision.
