Takes a licking and keeps on ticking

Got this Dewalt 734 Saturday, was so excited to use it, so I made a test run. Got an indentation, first time, so I run the same piece from the opposite end- and got the same result. I tried and tried without any luck on getting a clean shave. Called the 800 # and was told to go to the nearest service center. This is going back to Dewalt.

Works well

Discharge jams easily. Must keep blowing it out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upgraded from 2 to 3 blade and glad I did, finishes much better. Adjustments are precise. Great planer. Old time DYIs be aware to wear hearing protection because it’s damagingly loud.

Amazing planer - saved me so much time.

Does the job .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 15 years ago and have run thousands of feet of lumber through it. I've changed the blades a dozen times. Several breakdowns were easy to fix. Still works like new.

Works great

For the last several years I have been using a competitor's planer until it fried. I purchased the Dewalt planer to replace it, and upon using it for the first time, I could tell a big difference. The Dewalt has larger infeed and outfeed tables. I really like the fact that I can lock the motor and head assembly down to keep it from rising, and changing thicknesses on it's own when I'm planning larger or rough sawn boards.

Does not run well on my generator

Great product but did not work well with my generator.

So far so good, I have run 50 board feet of Brazilian cherry and the blades are holdng up well.

Love this planer!

This is the first planer I have owned and wouldn’t have chosen any other. Works great and gets the job done in no time. No more spending hours hand sanding.

Planes well but table doesn’t fold well

Planer planes and adjusts well, no problems there. If you have the dust collection piece installed then you can’t fold the outfeed table up fully for storage.

Simply the best!

Pound for pound and dollar for dollar this is simply the best thickness planer. I am definitely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone interested in a high-quality low-price thickness planer.

Looks good but that's it.

If you are planing soft wood it will work for you. I bought it for planing hard wood and it will NOT do the job. It over heats in just minutes with brand new knifes. The knifes get deformed by the knots in the oak and Ash I'm planing.

Not bad for soft wood horrible for hard wood

Bought it because it had great reviews and had a project I needed to get done, but as soon as I started plaining some oak it would pop the breaker every other board and be down for three minutes. Not what I expected honestly hoped for better. Got the project done took forever due to issues.
