Great time saver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the planer for a month now and I’m very happy with the product. It only took a few minutes to setup out if the box. Very easy to use. I’ve ran 8” wide by 5’ long poplar boards through with no snipe.

Great product at a very competitive price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought this thickness planer, and I'm totally impressed with its capabilities. Right out of the box, everything was flat, level and dialed in properly. Attached the exhaust vent and the elevation dial and I was in business. Every board came out flat and true. I would highly recommend this thickness planer for anyone, hobbyist or pro.

Accurate, dependable and tough

I've owned several bench-top/portable planers in the past and this one out performs all of them. I highly recommend this machine for anyone that cares about the quality of their work.

Still Works Well After A Number of Years

It has sufficient power for nearly all operations that I need it for, and has always cut very accurately. Just Right for me

Dewalt Planer

I purchased this planer on a friends recommendation. Once I mounted it down on a secure table I proceeded to plane some cedar boards and am here to tell you it is like Christmas day in my woodworking shop. I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs or even considering one.

Smooth & Easy!

All that my wife requires of my projects is that they be perfect. This planer will help a lot. I had another brand planer that I bought used and at least learned enough with it to be able to appreciate my new DEWALT . The assembly was very simple. The owners manual was explicit and brief. The set up couldn't have been much easier. You MUST have some type of dust collection. I use an old shop vac that I adapt to the dust collection outlet and it works perfectly. Really Happy with this Planer so Far

I haven't had the DW734 for very long so I can't speak for its longevity but so far so good. I'm getting silky smooth finishes and tolerances within a few thousanths of an inch. A pleasure to use.

Excellent Tool

I just bought this planer today for something that I screwed up on. It work it's magic like a charm. The only thing is I don'r have a big collection system for the chips. OIt does require something bigger than my Shop Vac. Filled it pretty quickly. Other than that I recommend this tool for anyone that needs to planer lumber.

don't buy it, go with grizzly

Cuts out every 3rd pass, just kills the motor in the middle of planing, is notorious for skip planing. I'd not recommend this to anyone.

Well built except for motor

I bought one of these little over a year ago have only used it a total of maybe 24 hours never wore out a set of blades very dissatisfied

Aluminum casting cracked after 2nd use

Used it twice. Then noticed it wasn't leaving a smooth surface. After closer inspection I noticed a huge crack had formed in the Aluminum motor mount casting. Called Dewalt and they instructed me to send it in for repair. Which I did. Dewalt was great and within two weeks they sent me out a brand new unit. But I intend on selling it and buying the better Dewalt model instead. Just because I know I didn't do anything to damage the unit and I don't want it happening again.

Does all I ask of it.

I have used and abused this machine for several years now. No complaints at all, except it can be a bit of a task to change the blades once in a while. I try to keep extra screw on hand in case I strip some when changing the blades. Other than that, it's a great machine.

Blades wear quick, chips out maple

This planer is user friendly. A very helpful gauge. Semi quiet. Biggest disappointment are the blades. They wear quick! This machine will chip out edge grain maple. A little disappointing overall
