Would Recommendhad an "OH, Shucks" project. it has to be fixed NOW situation. needed a 5/8ths bit but the store didn't have one, so i bought this and an Irwin 5 bit set to get the hole from half to five eights. it worked.

Drills steel well
Would RecommendHave drilled a dozen holes through 1/4" welding steel with a drill press. No issues, went through the last piece as easy as the first. No pilot hole used.
