Would RecommendA good priced splitter for even the big stuff, for the 24" thick stuff the ram/wedge can be set vertically so you can roll the piece onto the back stop so your not busting your back getting it up to the wedge. Motor top notch make, break it in good and you'll have a good strong and dependable splitter for a good long time.

Would RecommendGot the splitter home, added the engine oil and fresh gas. Started on first pull with full choke, 1/2 open throttle. Immediately saw hydraulic fluid spewing from high pressure line into tank. Shut it off and tightened the fitting. I had read reviews that had mentioned the same initial problem. Poor assembly on my local Lowe’s’ part. Started it up again and everything worked fine. Raining so no splitting today. Would RecommendPurchased this over the 32 ton model due to cost and weight. I was concerned with the lighter load limit and reduced cycle time, but an extra $1000 and 100lbs in weight without the 70mph tow limit couldn't be justified . After running this (27 ton) model for about 3 hours, I can say the cycle time is PLENTY fast, and the 27 ton cylinder is plenty strong. It powered through fresh cut oak, cherry and Ash log rounds, a few were trunk rounds almost 36 inches around and 12-15 inches thick and heavy...

Would RecommendI was about to purchase a $3600 35 Ton splitter. I was driving by Lowes and saw this lone Craftsman 27 ton on the sidewalk. They gave me a fantastic price, 1/3 of the other splitter. It had hydraulic fluid and oil in the engine. My daughter pulled it home with our Ranger. Put gas in it and it started on the second pull. We split 24 inch hickory rounds and the engine didn't even groan. Amazing machine. I like the table and the track on the beam. Thank You Lowes and Craftsman.

Would Not RecommendI had to give a good star rating or the site would not allow me to post, this is a bad rating The equipment was weather damaged. The gas tank was filled with rust and water along with oxidation from being stored outside. No manual or paperwork came with it and all of the stickers were scrapped off so there is no direct or process to follow. The store manager refuses to return any calls or give me a date to pickup and return the equipment.

Started on second pull, and always starts easily. I've been splitting some Oak, with some 24-in rounds splitting with no problem in the vertical position.
