I purchased it about 2 weeks ago , Had to put it together my self, very satisfied with it. Hasn't balked at anything I split with it, starts on first pull.

Splitter is good, but Lowe’s assembly is terrible!

C’mon Lowe’s! This is a very good wood splitter but your assembly was terrible. It was done by someone who didn’t even try to do a good job. A manager needs to check these before they leave the store. The engine mounting nuts were just started onto the bolts. The same for the big bolts attaching the I beam to the frame. All hydraulic lines were barely hand tight. And no fluids were added, i had to ask for the oil and hydro fluid. So, after going through the splitter myself, it seems to be a well...

Pricey but you get what you pay for.

Great build, quality welds, good paint, and very good assembly, good qualitiy engine.

Not such a good deal

The wood splitter was brand new, but it was missing a lot of little parts, such as all sticks, boats, and filters who would’ve thought buying a new wood splitter and you had to look for missing parts. This one for me was a loss.

Split a half a chord of oak first day and worked great. Looks nicely made and should last.

poorly assembled

nice product, put together badly. Told "It was ready to go". What a crock! Had to go out and purchase a gallon of hydraulic fluid, started it up and bolts started to shake loose and fall off, It was easier to fix it myself, as the Lowes is 120 miles roundtrip. Lowes, you should be really, really embarrassed,

Bought this recently. Shame it's made in China, but it looks pretty robust. I've used it a little and I'm very happy with it. It is well made and seems quite durable. Splits anything I throw at it. It barely had any engine oil in it. And I'll bet someone will assume the engine oil is full and run it. I don't know why Kohler couldn't fill the oil all the way. You have to add the hydraulic oil which is provided. Air in tires was minimal.

Came used, wedge doesnt go in or out

I ordered the last one, paid for delivery, requested it not be assembled. It was delivered assembled and looked used. The rope fell apart from rotting, stickers were sun faded, falling off, and one was barely legible. It had been used and was leaking hydraulic fluid. Went to lowes got hydraulic fluid and oil ( it was supposed to come with it). Once full started her up and the wedge doesn't move. It's not getting any hydraulic fluids thru the lines. Our Morehead Ky store is very dependable and dedicated in their assembly on their products. I bought the 27 ton Craftsman Wood splitter and went completely over everything down to the lug nuts to the spark plug.

While it took several pulls to start up, once it was running, it had plenty of power to split the wood that I had, even some of the logs that had some knots in them.

I love my new Craftsman 27-Ton Log Splitter! It's been a couple of weeks since being delivered and I've split about a whole cord of wood. This thing is so powerful and smooth. I've been splitting oak, maple, poplar, and pine. Even the oak and maple stumps that have knots in them have not even slowed this bad boy down. Definitely pick one of these up if you can find it in stock!

Very Impressed

I am very impressed with this setup. First of all, it made it the 10 miles home on both highway (kept speed below 50) and windy hilly back roads. Wheels are small and tires light weight, but adequate. Came complete with engine and hydraulic oil. Checked all fittings and the assembly is very good. Added oils and gas, set the choke, turned on the ignition cut-off, and the Kohler 196cc 4-stroke fired up on the first pull.
